Clearing my mind

Man – I have to say my mind has been all over the place lately. All over.  I can’t seem to get it settled down and it’s not just caffeine. Anyone talking to me in person lately probably walks around in a daze afterwards because I have been talking fast and jumping topics all over the place. 😳  Plus I haven’t been sleeping well.

And then I realize that Thanksgiving is in less than a week.  And I also realize that biking season is probably over now.  I was hoping for more, but the high temperature in the next 10 days is 38 degrees with most of the days in the low 30s.  Wahhh!  I am so struggling with getting into indoor exercise mode and changing my eats.  I think I will accept the fact that the season has ended and set the bike up on the trainer. That means changing out the back tire, which is why I don’t have it on there already. I hate changing the tires.  I found out that the trainer was probably the reason I had all the flats a couple years ago because they will deform the tire and that can let in all kind of particles of grit, glass and such that will pop the tube. So, I use an old tire on the back wheel inside and save the good one for outdoor riding. It’s just so final to bring it inside.

With the coming cold weather, we had best get started on our table project if we are going to get it finished for Christmas dinner!  I am now in possession of a new toy, though:

kreg jigThe Kreg jig for pocket holes  (I wrote ‘hoes’ LOL) isnt’ needed for this, but it will look more professional.  We have all the wood and hardware to get started, so that is on the agenda for this weekend.

Someone who cares not if I am all over the place?  Ms. Pixie.  I moved her bed to the window and now she loves it even more.  I also bought a scrap piece of fleece to match her bed.

Pixie

She is kind of giving me the evil eye here, I have to say.

I wish I could relax like her.  I have tried meditating in the past, but I just don’t enjoy it. It stresses me out because I can’t seem to get the hang of it, which is totally the opposite of what is supposed to happen. Maybe I should just nap.

Going to try to relax this weekend, though.  John is taking me out for lunch tomorrow for my football meal. I wanted a place that we can only get to on the weekends, so that meant waiting for my meal all week 😀  Hopefully I will have some progress pics of the table other than the pile of wood we bought!

So weird. I had almost the same blog title today. It seems this time of year there is SO much going on (mostly good stuff but it still consumes my mind!)

Hope you have a wonderful (AND RELAXING) weekend.

Well, maybe there’s been a built-up of caffeine because you haven’t gotten your usual allotment of biking in? Its probably the sleep. When I have had stretches where I don’t sleep well, that really does a number on me.

It will be exciting to see you building a table.

Don’t you wish we could curl up and ignore the world like Pixie does? I love her bed and her new blankie.

I think it is really the schedule disruption that gets me. Not to mention just other stuff going on.

I am excited about the table, too. I hope it comes out like I envision 😀

I was feeling similar last weekend – finally got index cards and wrote down all the stuff I had swirling in my head and assigned days to work on/think on it. Seems to have helped; hope you can get your thoughts to simmer down soon!

I need to sit down and write stuff out and make some plans. Sounds like a good way to spend the afternoon at a coffee shop!! (with decaf) 😀

You are feeling right now like I was in September/October. I go through it every single year it seems, right around the time when we rapidly lose daylight. It really sucks to feel unsettled and especially so when it begins interrupting your sleep. Maybe this weekend you can can a pen to paper and figure out a plan to help settle things down. Enjoy your football meal!

I usually don’t get it so bad, but I think it is just a combination of things, like the flipping, that get my mind in a mess for a bit.

I hope you manage to transition from biking to indoor exercise eventually. I’m not half as enthusiastic about taking walks outside now that it’s dark and rainy. I’m glad I started salsa earlier this fall, it’s fun! 🙂

I think Ms Pixie appreciates her matching blankie even if she is covering half of her eye there.. I think she should have her own Bitstrips character in Facebook.

Learning to mediate is difficult. I used to mediate years ago but then I stopped. This fall I’ve learned mindfulness skills and for some reason it works better for me, even though the technique is basically the same.

Hi Lori! Sorry about all the mins stuff! I get it though.. with the holidays PLUS our own other stuff, sometimes it is just craziness! I hope you are able to find some mid ground! I know it sucks about the bike riding too for you.

I wish I could meditate too – hard for me – I think I should try yoga but I don’t want to do at my gym & can’t afford a studio place so… we shall see.. so much going on in my crazy head too!

LOVE the Pixie pic – she is so sweet!!!! You know we all love her too!

IUgh – I hate when your thoughts are going 100 mph and you can’t reign things in! Hopefully this weekend you will have some time to relax and get yourself prepared for the upcoming week!!

Lori, I’ve found that Yoga is very relaxing. It’s indoors and if you go to a class, you have to focus. Not hot yoga or Bikram but regular old Yoga can really help to quiet the mind.

Sorry to hear you are feeling this way. If it’s things that have to be done: making lists always helps me. If not, I don’t have any suggestions.

But you know what helps me relax all the time? Bella! I bet Pixie can do the same for you.
