Trombones and football dinner!

Darned if it doesn’t feel like mid January around here! 9 degrees out when we got up and a high in the 20s. Brrrr…..  Too cold to be outside for people or animals.  I did a little rescue today.  I was getting a cup of coffee and heard a barking outside. I looked out to see a doggie in our driveway dragging a long leash.  I know I have mentioned we live on a busy street and I was worried this guy would get hit by a car. I went out there and he wasn’t interested at all in coming to me. So, I chased him down the driveway and was able to step on his leash to stop him.

He was pretty scared once he was caught. I thought I remembered this dog from a couple blocks away, so I figured I would walk down there and see if that was his owner. On my way there, I met the owner who was out looking for the little guy.  She was happy to have him back and then she was complaining about his leash and how he was always getting loose. Wouldn’t you think you would get a different one??  Anyway, I was glad he was safe again.

Lunch time!  John had made clam chowder the other day and that sure sounded good on a cold day like today.

Throwback Thursday of a sort: We have been going through the house and getting rid of things we don’t use any more.  I about fell over when I saw John had this out.

john

Flashback to when we first met 20 years ago!  He was thinking of donating this since he hasn’t played it in years, but then changed his mind that he wasn’t ready.  Same with my horn. I don’t think I will ever get rid of it because it was custom made for me and was such a big part of my life for a while.

I had some of these as a snack.  One of John’s poker buddies owns some kind of store and had a bunch of these he gave away.

They are very, very good!  I would buy these for sure. (Those are some holiday decals on my nail there.)

Of course, you can’t have a cold day complete without latte time.

Sorry it looks like I am about to give you all the finger there. 😳

I won the football picks last weekend. Go me!!  I am leading the season by a fair amount as well. I’ll take a job at ESPN any time they offer – as long as I can do it from home.  They could call me the Pajama Pundit! 😀

Anyway, I decided on Recovery Grill since the Broncos are playing tonight and it would be fun to go to a sports bar and get prepped for the game.

There are TVs everywhere with all kinds of sports on. No matter where you turn, you can watch TV 😀

They also have really good food.  We love going here.  I decided to have a favorite tonight – buffalo chicken fingers!

WP_20131212_011

Level hot – Bet Biz would love these!  Couldn’t quite finish these, but I didn’t bother bringing home the leftovers. After dinner, we had to stop at Lowe’s to pick up a couple more pieces of wood. Doing the inserts on the table and I was dry fitting them – some of the pieces are a bit too short. It appears the the 4 quadrants aren’t totally equal.

I am pretty excited about how it’s turning out, though. Hope to get it stained this weekend.  With all the snow on the way, it will be a good project to do.

Settling in for the Broncos tonight!  Beat those Chargers!!

I didn’t know cats could wink.

    Ahhhhhhhhhh Pixie! Too cute!

Did I mention I love you? As a dog lover I love that you rescued the dog, I even show the pic on FB to R. yesterday and said how sweet that was of you.

John, you and I could start an orchestra since I played a Bugle (not sure what the right word is, something like a trumpet) when I was young. I borrowed mine from the orchestra so I don’t have it anymore and don’t think I could still play it either.

Of course PIXIE knows how to wink. I’m not so sure about other cats. And she looks so adorable lolling in her Pixie bed. :p

I had my first singing gig with my choir on Wednesday. Our teacher told that she got lots of compliments on how well we sing. I’m certainly waiting for new gigs.

That table of yours looks good. I wish I had more energy, I would start sewing clothes again..

Pixie loves her bed so much! Especially now that we have it up higher.

Who knows, maybe your choir will get gigs on the side and that could lead to lots of things 😀

You could always use your musical instruments as wall art. Then you could appreciate them visually even when you weren’t in the mood to enjoy them musically, 🙂

I haven’t had chicken fingers in forever. Must fix that.

I forget how good chicken fingers are. And chicken wings. Then I have to remember there are many reasons I don’t eat them very often – like 100 reasons 😉

Yum, chicken fingers. Now I want that… and I think I have a package of the tenders in my freezer. I should make them this weekend.

I could join your orchestra along with Fran – I played a clarinet for years. Even though it’s been a loooong time since I play I’d bet I could pick it back up.

I’ve had little doggies run with me early in the mornings and I always worry about where they come from. You are a good egg!

I agree with Pixie about football, although I doubt you would be able to catch me in exactly that position 😉

Every time you post new nail pics, I have to send it on to my BF to see! You really do some clever things, and they always look so professional. How did you get so good at it so fast?

Stay warm! You look cold in your latte picture. I’ll be excited to see the table progress this weekend.

The nails look good because I don’t go super close 😀 They aren’t perfect.

I had to laugh about looking cold in the latte picture. I had just gotten back from the bank and my nose was all red from the cold, so I held the cup up to cover that 😀

I’m glad John kept his horn – I think smaller instruments are meant to be saved, even if they aren’t being played at the moment. My son spent his first year in band (6th grade) learning how to play the trumpet using my dad’s trumpet from when HE was in school! Then, Sam got really good and bought a fancy trumpet, which he hasn’t played in years now, but he’ll never get rid of it.

So glad you saved that little dog! Warms my heart when people go out of their way to help animals. 🙂

You are correct Lori, I would love those buffalo fingers! And for the record, if you have a toaster oven, they reheat very well.

Glad you saved the puppy! You are just like some sore of animal whisperer! Well, maybe not for the dog since you had to step on his leash, but cats definitely!

    Stay warm!

That picture of Pixie makes me laugh – she is all twisted up!!
    The table is coming along!!!
And – you totally rock on this whole football thing!!!
