A short taste of spring

Boy, today was a gorgeous day!  The sun was out and it was in the low 50s.  I finally see my birdbath again – yay!

Work with me here, this has melted a lot. My birdbath was totally covered. Too bad it is going to get covered with more snow to the tune of 7 inches and hoping it isn’t more than that. The bobsled chute is melting, although still pretty high.

It felt so good when I went to the gym in the afternoon.  I am still trying to figure out a schedule.  I have the days down, but not the time.  It has more to do with how much work there is when I check in the morning.  Maybe I just won’t ever have a set time I go.  Anyway, my gym built on a new area to take part in the Crossfit craze. They don’t call it Crossfit, though, just cross training. It’s the same stuff, though.  The nice thing is that when there aren’t cross training classes, this is an open gym.

I like being in here during open gym because it isn’t crowded and I can spread out doing my mat, ball and step work. This was taken at 7 am Saturday morning when I was in there by my little lonesome:

It’s also very cold in there, which I don’t like now, although I am sure I will be loving it in the summer.

Today’s lifting:

Exercise Set/rep/weight
Plank 3 sets of holds for 55 seconds (increased)

Prone Cobra 3 sets of holds for 50 seconds
Lateral raise with external rotation 3 sets of 10 with 8# DBs
Overhead Squat 3 sets of 10 with 20# bar
Single Leg/Single arm Romanian deadlift 3 sets of 10 with 20# DB (increased)
Single arm cable lat pulldown 3 sets of 10 at 30# (increased)
Bulgarian Split Squat (video) 3 sets of 10 with body weight
High Cable Row 3 sets of 10 at 50#

It was all I could do to go home and go back to work with the nice weather!  We did some work on the backsplash cutting the last few tiles and now grouting will be done tomorrow and the wood trim and we will be done! Woo Hoo!

Then we went out for a treat:

This is a new yogurt shop and one even closer will be opening up at the end of the month.  And yes, there is cinnamon toast crunch cereal on my yogurt! 😀

Now to get ready for snow…

Hooray for some nicer weather – spring really is going to come at some point!!!
Awesome that you basically had the gym to yourself.

Girl I wish you Spring weather soon! More snow forecast must be so depressing. For heaven’s sake it’s March! Bring on Spring!

I never liked the gym when it was crowded either. Back in the days I used to go early too because there weren’t many people then.

I went out to run an errand yesterday during lunch and almost didn’t come back to work.

Wah! The impending snow and ice of doom makes me want some cheese with my whine – for real! My yard is still covered too. I feel like it’s never going to melt.

How awesome that they let you use the room when class isn’t in session! Our gym locks down the fitness room so you’re stuck to the weight room with all the grunting men or the two odd machines behind all the treadmills.

Hoping you are spared the 7″ of snow. I would be crying if that much was headed here!!

Your gym and your set up looks so nice!

This weather, please. It was nearly 80 yesterday and today it’s windy, cold and an overnight low of 33 is predicted…just in time for me to go run in tomorrow morning. Not snow, but dang, I know we ALL are ready for spring!

I’m so glad you got a nice day! I feel guilty when I talk about the spring weather out here. Except for that one early storm, we had a crazy mild winter this year. I can’t even fathom my bird bath being covered up!

Yep – same here – 50s then more snow. It was so depressing having to scrape off not only more snow but ice on my car this morning – gah!

I like that open gym! Our gym is getting all new equipment this spring – can’t wait to try out some new strength training machines. 😀

Lori, are you having as much trouble as I am getting to the bird feeder to fill it? Bobsled chute, lol, everyone refers to my driveway as a luge run! Long, steep, with old oaks along both sides. [ To the tune of Yesterday, with apologies to the Beatles] Yesterday, all my driveway snow had gone away. Now there’s seven inches and I’m blown away. Oh how I long for yesterday.

I can get to one feeder because I can reach it from the porch. The other one will be empty for a while. 😀

I guess a little break is better than no break??? 😉 Glad you got it, glad you have the gym at times to you & hoping for this winter stuff to stop for my snow virtual friends!!!!

Oh, how I’m pining for the open area for gym mat work! I’m sandwiched between an elliptical and one of the cable machines. People step over me to get to the towel dispenser on the wall. Because I’m invisible. 🙂
