Breakfast ride!

One of my favorite rides of the week has to be Sunday morning to breakfast. It’s always really quiet because most people are still sleeping or maybe at church and it’s just peaceful.

It was pretty chilly when we left the house, but it was supposed to get warmer.  8 miles later and we hit up Panera Bread for breakfast!

It was nice to relax and chat over coffee.  We decided to keep riding for a while and head to Lake George:

I will say that it’s now tourist time. The people on the path. The people! Spread over the path, with dogs that chased us, kids weaving all over the path on bikes. It can be dangerous.  John and I got separated by a clot of people and then I saw a young boy topple over from his bike, so I stopped to make sure he was okay.  His mom had scooped him and and he was crying, but no blood or anything.

I said to him, “Do you know what this means?”

What?”

“It means you are a real biker now.”   Then he smiled and we knew he was fine. So, I continued on and met John at the lake, who was probably wondering where I got off to. LOL.

Boom.

We hadn’t thought too much about this ride as I didn’t have sunscreen and we didn’t have a snack. It was a long ride without food, so we got a snack at the lake and wandered around.

We headed back home and wound through more people. Ugh!  It went from 0 to 60 with people this weekend.  We had shed jackets since it was pretty warm.

After a bit, I realized that I was going to burn in the sun, so I had to put my jacket back on to protect my arms. I did not have my travel sunscreen in my bag since I took it out last fall! We really didn’t prepare well LOL!

It really was a gorgeous day.

Holiday weekend, good weather, people everywhere…yep, sounds like Memorial Day/beginning of summer to me! Glad you had a good time, even with the crowds (and no sunscreen – eek!).

I can’t believe I didn’t have sunscreen. I was so hot wearing the jacket, but better that than to get burned. Lesson learned.

All the green is so fun to see. I love that heron with the little purple flowers growing around it.

The lake is such a beautiful place–no wonder there are crowds there!

Sounds like a 46 denial: in a couple of weeks? LOL If I’m correct it’s much closer than that 🙂 Trust me, it didn’t hurt turning 46.

Lovely ride! I was out for a walk early yesterday morning and it was very quiet too, loved it. The only place where it was busy was at the church.

The bike paths look wonderful when there are no people in them! The lake is so wonderful I can see why it is a nice destination for you. Sounds like you need a serious bag check and repack though! Oh, and on reading Fran’s comment … being older has its advantages. I can’t even REMEMBER turning 46. 😀

Nice looking bike trail! Despite the people. Totally get it. It’s so annoying when people get on a trail and then have NO CONCEPT of other people. Maybe walking four people wide and blocking the whole trail is rude…maybe?? (Hello people!)

Yeah, it’s like they get off the road and forget that there actually are rules to follow on the path and that other people may be trying to use it. At least most of the kids had helmets on, which was good to see.

You guys had some good weather up there. Ours was just so-so… we had a front that kind of got stuck and kept showering on us. But at least it wasn’t cold.

So glad you got some down time from work!!

We were so lucky to have such a great weekend. It was made for being outside. We went for a ride Sunday as well but by late afternoon the wind kicked up and made it really tough to get back. Still, couldn’t beat that glorious sunshine.

Wonderful bike ride. We were camping up at Paradox Lake, and Sunday morning when we woke up the weather was so much better than the rest of the weekend had been. Good time to get out there and get your bike ride in. Me- I haven’t excercised in 4 days, and I know today is going to be slow going.
    Flowers are all beautiful!

I put on sunscreen that was from last year before heading out on my walk today – I was only gone 40 minutes, but the back of my neck and arms got burnt – didn’t realize my sunscreen was expired – doh!

Great ride though! Sorry about all the tourists!

Wow – great ride!! So happy you are back to riding. Sweet of you to tell the little boy that his fall meant he was a real bike rider!

And I shall now begin to live vicariously through you and go for many lovely bike rides this summer. 😛

In my cycle class she made us do a “hill” where it was high resistance and we were barely pushing out 60 rpms…I commented to the lady next to me that if I was on a real bike I would’ve toppled over already. 😀
