My new hat

John is back home again and all is back to what is normal for us at any rate. ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Here is Pixie all kinds of happy to be sitting with both of us this evening.ย

Pixie

You can’t hear through a picture, but she was purring like a machine!

Day of food accountability today! ย Haven’t done that in a while, but my eats have been fairly boring lately. ย I started off with the usual protein waffles:

I decided to go to the gym in the mid morning today. There was a ton of work to do, but I wasn’t the only one working on the account, so I wanted to get to the gym before it got really hot out (it hit 86 degrees today!!). I grabbed a homemade protein bar and headed out. ย I am so glad I didn’t wait because it already was pretty warm.

Lunch time and it was time for more protein. I am trying to make sure I get a lot of protein on lifting days. This is a turkey burger with laughing cow on top. A lot of people ask me what that is on my burgers. It’s just a mashed wedge of cheese ๐Ÿ™‚

This actually is a typical dinner, but I figured I would eat a larger lunch and have a lighter dinner due to the heat. I don’t know about any of you, but the heat makes me lose my appetite pretty fast.

I got a package today! But first, a little back story. ย A few years ago, I borrowed a race hat from my sister. I don’t even remember why, but probably we wanted to go out in public after a race and I needed something to hide my hair LOL. Anyway, I somehow commandeered the hat and it is the one you normally see when I am out biking and have taken my helmet off. I also wear it to the gym.ย It is looking the worse for wear now:

I keep asking Colleen if she wants it back, but she declines. I don’t understand why…

Anyway, I was watching the Criterium du Dauphine bike race during the last week – which was totally exciting, BTW! – and there was a 30% discount code for Head Sweats. They have Tour de France performance hats and so I decided to pull the trigger and order one!

Ta Da!!

I love my new hat! These are nice and light and adjustable in the back, too. Way better than any kind of baseball cap.

It doesn’t take much to excite me…

Then there is the bad news. In a first world problem of epic proportions, the espresso machine is broken. It has been a little iffy for a while and now it just won’t work at all. ย So, my snack was something brought to me by John from the Bellagio buffet in Vegas.

Hooray for day old cookies LOL! Such a good hubby ๐Ÿ˜€

The rest of my work day sped by. The nice thing about being busy is that it can go fast, especially when the work is easier and not one of those days where I am pulling my hair out. It was quick supper time.

Greek yogurt and apple topping! See, I told you my eats lately have been pretty standard.

Now for a relaxing evening with John home and a snack! Hooray!

Love your coffee mug – it’s so pretty with the red flowers!! And that hat is really sweet, absolutely perfect for you! Yeah, I’d say it was beyond time for a new one, lol.

Too bad about the espresso machine. I’m using a Krups that belonged to my BFF’s (now) husband – it has to be around 20 years old. Somehow I suspect that were I to buy a new Krups espresso machine today, it wouldn’t be around in 20 years…

That cup was a gift from my in-laws. Made by an artist in CO. I love the mug!

We went higher end for this last machine since I want true espresso and it just didn’t work out all that great. Need to search again.

Love the hat and it gives me and idea and you have to remind me about it too: next year the Tour de France starts in Holland. There will be merchandise and if I still remember it next year I will see that I buy something that has to do with the tour and Holland.

Great that John is back home. For our pets the world isn’t complete if one of the family members isn’t home.

And the espresso machine: the horror! Worst nightmare for me too.

Man – I need to see how much flights out next year to Holland would be. It would be cool to see you and get to see part of TDF!

Great hat! I wonder if you’ll ride faster and farther now. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the cheese wedges (I use Aldi brand), but they don’t exactly serve up pretty, do they? Smash-and-go is about the best you can do with them. LOL

I need speed holes in my hat. I almost got the kind of hat that you wear underneath the helmet because it would be nice to have some sweat wicking, but I was afraid it would be terribly hot.

Your waffles look SO good! Maybe when I get my new kitchen, I’ll get a waffle maker to put in it!

So you don’t have any kind of coffee without your espresso maker? How did you make it through the afternoon?? You’re the one who started me on my afternoon coffee break!

That’s a great hat! Glad you treated yourself.

This seems to be the time of year when not only my eats but my whole life feels sort of rhythmic. I find it really hard to blog. Maybe that’s why blogland goes so quiet in the summer?

Yea, when the plastic insert in the brim starts popping out, it really is time for a new hat ๐Ÿ˜€

    What a great hat!!
Do you notice a difference in your appetite on days you lift? I never really have but I have odd eating habits/patterns.

I had BBQ chicken chunks and broccoli with Brussels sprouts sautรฉed in the pan last night for supper. So filling! I see you eat a lot of broccoli, too. Guess you’ve inspired me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the biking info on FB!!! Hoping to have a chance to read it later this afternoon. Glad hubs got back safely. My kitty purrs at the drop of a hat too, so I can relate.

Have you tried running a white vinegar cycle through your espresso machine? It does the trick for our machine.
