Pumpkin Party!

We got a chance to christen our dining room and kitchen with a pumpkin carving party on Monday night!  It’s a little early to be carving, but the only chance we had where all of us were free to do it. Look out newly done dining room and kitchen – the pumpkins have arrived!

We all got busy carving:

Pumpkin guts everywhere.  Thank goodness we don’t have carpet. It’s easy to clean pumpkin guts off the hardwood floor 😀

I am usually the fastest carver, but I kept running out to the kitchen getting snacks and stuff ready. I still finished near the front, though.

The nieces went freestyle on their pumpkins and decorated with some bling.

As each pumpkin got finished, we set them on the inside stairs before going outside:

Then we took them outside and admired our handiwork.

I have one big pumpkin to carve on Thursday or Friday as it is starting to get soft on top and I didn’t want to cut it open until closer to Halloween so it doesn’t get mushy.

As my dad proclaimed “Another successful pumpkin party!”  😀  I didn’t even freak out over the mess everywhere in the house, either LOL!

We weren’t sure it was going to happen this year, but kind of last minute decided on Monday. It’s always fun.

Oh look! I wonder if that old house feels loved again with all the attention?……… 🙂 Love your pumpkins! Did you get some candy for the trick or treaters?? We just bought ours…..We’ll hand out until either we run out or its 8:30pm which ever comes first…… I try to cut it off early before the ‘big kids’ start coming around…. Hugs! deb

I think it probably feels better and more well taken care of. There are still parts that feel like a hotel – like the bathroom with the ornate wallpaper, but gradually it will feel like home.

We bought some treats – I have no idea what to expect and we need to check with the neighbors to see how many kids usually come.

What a fun tradition, and I was thinking especially how fun it was for your nieces to have a family that enjoys getting together just to have fun!

This is such a nice tradition! I haven’t carved a pumpkin in years but I did love doing it with Little Helen back in the day. We always roasted the pumpkins seeds too. Do you guys do that?

The nieces bling shows up nicely in the candlelight!

Not many people carve pumpkins around here. I think it’s because it’s still so warm outside. Maybe they mush up quicker?

I love your annual pumpkin party!

(Catching up on your blog this week after my week away, so responses may be a bit late).
