It’s all about the arms

I am trying to get myself into a gym routine still. I think I will do lifting T/Th and either Sat or Sun.  I was up early and out the door this morning. The gym is only a couple miles from our new house, so it cuts down a lot of the time it took from our old place (which was 6 miles).  I started  a split body workout regimen today and it was all about the arms this morning.

Exercise Set/rep/
Dumbbell Shoulder Press 4 sets of 10
Upright Row 3 sets of 10
Bent Lateral Raise 3 sets of 10
Dumbell Biceps Curl 3 sets of 10
Barbell Drag Curl 3 sets of 10
Triceps Kickback 3 sets of 10
Dumbbell Overhead Triceps extension 3 sets of 10
Lying Dumbell Triceps Extension 3 sets of 10

I usually do full body workouts and don’t concentrate so much, so this is going to make me sore tomorrow!!

I thought I would do an eats post since I haven’t done that in a while and it always helps me to check accountability 😀

Once I got home, breakfast was oat bran with banana and egg white cooked in, topped with an apple walnut compote we got on our orchard visit.

(Note John’s sweet potato waffle in the background that he made).

Lots of work this morning and then I had a mid morning snack:

This is half a Balance bar.  Looks tiny, no? Still 100 calories…

Not sure if you can see the wall behind the couch in the above picture. Wallpaper removal has started and I swear the unfinished wall looks so much better than that stupid wallpaper.  It is dirty and torn. There were pieces of gum stuck to the wallpaper as well.  Seriously, I know that they  had kids, but come on. That’s just nasty.

Now I have gray paint swatches on the wall.  I am leaning towards the middle one and now that choices are narrowed down to a few colors, it’s time to get the sample pots and do larger patches.  Gray is a very unfamiliar territory for me with paint and it has been the hardest color to figure out. I love that you can now buy sample pots to try colors or just get them for smaller projects.

We had a very nice surprise from some of the neighbors.  On Sunday they stopped by with a welcome basket!

That was very sweet.  The neighbors that we have met have all been very nice so far. Many are glad to see someone is now taking care of this place.  Let’s see how they feel when I put a bunch of pink flamingos in the front yard 😀  Lunch time included some of the cheese from that basket.

A tasting plate, as Biz calls them.

Afternoon snacks!

I would have had more cashews, but that was the very end of the bag.  Wahhh!

Dinner time!  John has pretty much moved to fish and seafood being the only meat he will eat now. I still eat ‘land’  meat, so we each cooked our own dinner (which is fairly common anyway).

Note lunch and dinner eaten at the dining room table!  This is a habit I really am trying to enforce for myself and John ends up following suit so that we eat together.

We relaxed this evening with a walk downtown for some coffee.  I love that Spot and Coffee Planet are only a mile from our house!  Only Coffee Planet is not open at night, boooo….

Latte made with love by the barista:

We also popped into the library that is next door and I got books for the first time in a few months!

I think I have home decor on the brain or something…

LOL at your book choice. Aren’t you tired YET? I get tired just being around all the construction.

I have gone a whole year without eating oatmeal, and now I am waking up in the mood for it. I think it might be the winter of oatmeal.

I LOVE that Walker’s shortbread. That would have to be up VERY high in order for me to avoid eating all of it!

I just started back on the weights at the gym yesterday. It felt good. And then it felt sore 🙂

    What a nice welcome basket!!!
I can’t believe that the previous owners left gum on the walls – that is not cool even if you do have kids!!!

Hurray for having more time to do normal things like go to the gym, coffee shop, and library!

I know you didn’t ask for opinions, but I am wondering if the gray walls are a good choice with the tan couches? I love gray, but I’m not sure I’d pair it with tan…

This color has been hard to choose. I don’t want beige, but I want something neutral so that our artwork and other furniture pieces will show their colors (which has jewel tones in it). John was thinking a blue color and I thought maybe a purple, but then with low ceilings, I don’t want the color to be too dark.

I am not married to the gray and with some sample pots, a larger patch of color will give me a better idea. I did see a picture of this exact sofa in a gray room and liked it, but we just have to see how it plays out in here. Good thing paint is relatively cheap and easy to fix if we don’t like it! 😀

how sweet sweet sweet is that welcome basket.
the child and I have talked about doing the reverse when we move.
BRINGING OUR NEW NEIGHBORS CA STUFF!!!

I love the gray neutral but there are so many choices it can be easy to be wrong. I am wondering about gray paint with your couches. Maybe you should copy-cat me and do Behr Cloudy Day, which is more of a blue-gray and it’s light. No, I haven’t repainted yet lol! In fact the color has sort of grown on me.

That was so nice of your neighbors to bring you the basket… and I spy Walker’s shortbread in there, one of my most favorite indulgences!

Gray is so easy to get wrong. I am trying to find a warmer one.

Yes, those shortbread cookies are really good. I love a simple cookie like shortbread or sugar cookies, but those are easy to get wrong too LOL

I just recently painted my living room walls gray and I have brown, gold and tan colored furniture. I love it!

I am going to test samples soon. I do like the look of the sample card on a small scale. Will have to see what a large swatch looks like.

LOVE the neighbor’s welcoming you! And you’ve been having lots of arm workouts with all the renos! But how great that you are able to get back to a more “normal” routine! Have a wonderful day Lori!

Yahoo for weights again!!!!! LOVE the pics of you in the new house and how sweet about the neighbors bringing you that welcome basket!!!! Nice way to start the living experience there! 🙂

Nice neighbors!!! I need to remember that for the next new neighbors we get (we have a few houses for sale on our street).

I usually do full body exercises as well. I like it because I feel like it’s a better workout and it’s more efficient (and burns more calories). But I don’t necessarily see the results I want to see. So I should probably start splitting up body parts and do isolation exercises for awhile…..

Maybe an idea for the paint: make one wall a darker colour. We did that in our living room and it really looks great. All walls are cream white except for one that has a brown/cream paint on it. R. came up with it and I love it.

I am always surprised how many people don’t eat dinner at the table. We always ate at the table back home and R. and I have been eating at the dinner table for the last 20 years. For us it’s the moment to catch up on each others day. Good habit, keep it going.

And what a sweet gift from your neighbours.

We thought about the accent wall in our bedroom. Maybe that would be good in the living room, too. I need to get more paint swatches. Or what I should do is put up a post with my ideas and get different viewpoints.

Yikes, I’m so far behind on reading blogs that I may be too late with this. Even though the warranty on the tv just expired try calling the manufacturer anyway. Same thing happened to me and they sent me to a local repair guy, and although the repair wasn’t free they did pick up the majority of the tab.
