It was one of those mish mash weekends. Those always go by fast, don’t they? John had his football meal. He has won several weeks in a row because my picks stink this year. I lost my mojo. Broncos!!! What is wrong with youuuuuu??
He chose the Silo. This is an old place made out of 2 barns that were transported to this spot and formed into a restaurant and a large shopping area.

Of course, we window shopped afterwards. I really wanted this old trunk, but it was a display item and not for sale:
They also had cider donuts freshly made, which smelled amazing, but we didn’t get any.
Lots of work done on the Manor this weekend. Still concentrating in the living room. There is little room off the living room which we call the North room for lack of a better term. These apparently used to be French doors, but are now cheapie hollow core doors, which don’t even fit properly, and one was nailed shut.

We aren’t totally sure how well this room holds heat, so we may have to put the doors back up if it gets too cold in there or the heating bills go crazy. It is directly over the furnace room, though, which puts out a lot of heat. We shall see. I will say I am looking forward to have our art work on the walls and not strewn about the room.
I am a little over 2/3 done with wallpaper removal. If I put my mind to it, I can have it done this week and then repair the wall and hopefully paint Thanksgiving weekend. We usually put our tree up that weekend, so it would be nice to have it ready to go.

I am actually leaning more and more towards the gray. I keep trying to talk myself out of that color, but then I like it the best. It actually looks good up against the couch. The purplish gray I tried looked nice during the day, but it was really muddy looking at night.
Last but not least was the lifting. Workout this weekend was chest,back and abs with supersets.

John accompanied me to the gym with a guest pass, too. 😀 I worked out mostly in the area nicknamed the Iron Den – and they made a sign for it.
It’s funny how there are 3 sections to the gym and almost never the twain shall meet – or however that saying goes. There is the Iron Den, the middle cardio and weight machine room and the open gym, which is where they hold crossfit workouts, but anyone can use that section when there are no classes. It’s funny how certain ‘types’ of people only stay in certain sections. I go around to all 3 depending on what I need. It’s amusing to hear some of the different conversations that go on in these areas.
Anyway, winter is slowly marching in. We will be getting some snow tonight and tomorrow and I just am not ready. We still have leaves on the ground!
I’m curious about the fireplace. Is it energy efficient? It looks like it has vents to let the heat into the room? I only ask because we had a fireplace growing up, but up here, people mostly think they aren’t energy efficient, so they have wood stoves. Also, will you plan to use it much? Wood heat is so nice and cozy (had my first fire last night) but it sure is messy. Sorry to hear you will be having snow tomorrow. It was so cold yesterday that it felt like snow. But so far our drought is trying its hardest to hang in there.

The fireplace is more decorative, I think. Those holes don’t really connect to anything. They are almost little shelves. We did find a nonwinning scratch off ticket in one of them 😀
It was converted to gas about 15 years ago?. It also does not work properly right now and it isn’t in the budget to fix for a while. Our radiator system seems to work really well in the house and it is so nice not getting dried out from a forced air furnace like we used to have.
Once the fireplace works, we will use it fairly often, probably. I loves me a fireplace! I usually stand right up against it and block the heat from anyone else LOL!
I like that trunk, too!! And that store looks like a Christmas store – my favorite!

Just tagging along on the fireplace comment. We have some friends who got a fireplace insert put in and they love it. It still has that feel of the “real” fire – because you do use actual wood – but it cranks out SO much heat and you don’t get any of the sooty smoke smell in the house. You said fireplace was not in the budget right now but I would suggest looking into that when you are ready – especially if the house doesn’t hold in heat very well. It’s so much more energy efficient than a gas fire.
I am so loving reading along on the progress. It’s a lot of work but the house won’t even look like the same place when you are done (it already looks so different). It’s fabulous!
Our house seems to hold in heat really well with the cement walls, yay!!
It is a lot of work on the house. Sometimes I get tired of doing it, other times I only want to work on the house and not do my job 😀

And a big thumbs down to pre-Thanksgiving snow. Your snow is our rain today I think. We just lucked out in that our temps have stayed above freezing while this front comes through.
The wallpaper is a little depressing because there is still the downstairs powder room, the foyer, the stairwell, upstairs hallway, 2 bedrooms and the bathroom.
Now I am really depressed after writing that…
I think grey is going to be a good color too, you can use colorful things on the wall that will break the grey plus they will look better at a grey background.
I saw on FB that you got some snow. Way too early if you ask me. Here there is no sign of snow yet, I don’t have any idea what kind of winter we will have this year.
We have been known to get October snow – so this isn’t all that early. At least it isn’t much and will probably melt if it gets warm enough.

I guess putting up the Christmas tree would light a fire under me if I was having to pull down wallpaper. Still think that is one of the worst jobs in a home redo…which is why I have wallpaper in my dining room, still.
I love the exposed brick in the north room! But I can see how it’s a wait and see to see if that room stays warm enough. 😀 Since Tony has been sick I haven’t even thought about the leaves on the ground, and at this point, pretty sure they will just get snow over them – oh well!
I JUST LOVE (yes, capitalizing) Radiance Manor!!!! Seeing it’s progress here is great! Damn about the snow. Grrr!
