Shopping Local

We had a nice time at the Shirt Factory.  I love to go to their open house every year.  The Shirt Factory is an old factory that has been converted to art galleries and studios and retail shops.  They hold their holiday open house Black Friday weekend. Enjoy some of our local artists:

Lots of soap and aromatherapy this year:

I had to buy a bar of soap:

This lady had all of these natural stones and she would make a pendant to order right there for you.

My sister and niece each bought one. I came really close, but I wanted to buy more Christmas presents for others LOL!

Bears in a sap can!

There is a shop called Travel Well and they have all kinds of handmade and vintage stuff from all over.  I love their display:

Himalyan pink salt everything in this store, from lamps to the actual eating salt.

And some cigar box guitars.

They only have 3 strings, so I don’t think I could play it 😀

I managed to get some Christmas shopping done, too.  Then we stopped for lunch – hot soup:

She was being all artsy with the styling 😀

I love this time of year.  Next weekend is Christmas in the Country! Hope you all had a great weekend!

The 2 bears are adorable, and I love the frame! I loved seeing all these pics. How do you know when it is okay to take pics at an art fair type place? I’m never sure.

If there are no signs saying ‘no photography’, just ask the artist. They usually are okay with it, but sometimes they don’t want a picture taken – which is understandable.

On Friday we went out to lunch and stopped at Panera Bread first and it was so crowded we turned around and walked out. Too many people!

What a fun place to shop. I loved the silk and wool displays, and I LOVE the stones with the pink in them! Lunch afterwards sounds like a perfect day!

Little Helen and I shopped local on Saturday as well. Custom jewelry makers must be a thing because there was one in one of the shops we visited as well. I’m actually going to try to sneak back and buy her a piece she saw and liked.

Fun, fun, fun. I remember you went to this last year. I am going to my first Christmas fair ever next weekend with 2 friends. It’s in Dickens style I heard and I really look forward to it.

Staying away from the mall and big box stores is really what Christmas shopping is all about. Luv those displays and the picture of the bears. We have an ‘Adirondack’ family room, might have to find one of those pictures.

It’s definitely “coals to Newcastle” when you buy somebody else’s soap, isn’t it? Have you ever thought of showing your product there? Just curious. I have a neighbor who makes soap and every few years she gives me some for Christmas. I soooo look forward to those years!

Well, it seems I never make soap for myself anymore, just other people – so it’s nice to treat myself 😀

I mildly think about selling the soap. What I would love is to have a shop where I did soap and redid furniture and other art projects to sell. Cause I need another project, you know 😉
