Bachelorette time

Today I took John to the airport.  He will be gone for a week.  He is spending part of the time with his family and part with a friend of his who lives in Vegas.  With owning 2 houses right now, vacation for both of us together is off the table, but John hasn’t seen his folks in about a year, so I told him to look for good flights and go visit them by himself.

After we sell our house if that ever happens… then I will take a mini vacation 😀  So, it’s going to be a busy week for me keeping an eye on John’s business and my own job. But, I am glad to do it so he can visit his family, even though I wish I could see them as well.  I will miss him terribly, though.

Hopefully I will have enough things to keep me busy and out of trouble, but who knows? John might come back to 4 more antique trunks, 3 chairs to upholster and 6 stray cats.

I stopped for a consolation latte on the way back from the airport:

My new shower curtain arrived today.  Since we are redoing the whole bath in a few years, I didn’t want to spend a ton on a shower curtain – and really, why are they so expensive??  Finding one I like and at a good price is like that old needle in the haystack thing.  However, Amazon usually comes to the rescue, and it did in this case. $15 and free shipping for a fabric shower curtain.  Marked down from $50 – score!  I really love how pretty it is. If I can’t get my gardening fix outside, may as well have it in the bath.

I am going to have to figure out some way to use this in the future when we have a glass door shower and won’t need it. Maybe I could fashion a duvet cover out of it or something.

I have to say that I am getting tired of this cold weather. We barely got above freezing today and were below that yesterday.  The snow is melting ever so slowly.  At least the walks are now mostly clear and just wet in spots.  I took a nice walk after dinner.

It’s forecast to be below normal for a while, too.  I am putting out my tulip spring flag tomorrow regardless, dammit.

Now to keep myself busy – and get back to work to make up for the time I missed taking John to the airport.

Love your shower curtain – maybe it will give the weather some ideas!!!
I hope you have a great week and stay busy so the time passes quickly while John is gone.

Hope you have a great weekend/week even though your love will be away. Distance always makes the heart grow fonder 🙂

…I sooo agree with you regarding prices of shower curtains. I went in to a bed bath and beyond once and couldn’t believe the price tags. Is it really that serious?! Amazon is the best.

Sounds like a pretty standard week to me – but then, I’m used to Jeff traveling a lot. I think it would be funny if John came home to a crazy cat lady and a bunch of projects!

Shower curtains are crazy expensive. I wanted to put one up in my son’s spare bathroom to add some color to the drab room, and I had to look hard to find one at a decent price, especially since it was pretty much purely decorative.

Hope your weather warms up. We got a little too warm out here (ease into it, Texas!) today.

Very pretty shower curtain Lori. My masterbath has a shower door but the second bath has my lace shower curtain that i have owned for at least 20 years… it washes up so nice… Honestly looks brandnew..crazy…. Don’t have too much fun with John gone..lol … I like the time alone when hubby has a chance to be away.. it doesn’t happen often and then i love it when he comes back home… win win.. 🙂 Stay warm! Hugs! deb

Our snow is finally gone, since we had a nice warm spell last week. That nasty 4-letter word that starts with a “s” is in the forecast on Sunday. Nice shower curtain – we usually get our shower curtains on sale at Menards – don’t know if Menards is nationwide. Hope you get a lot done this coming week, but not too much so you can enjoy yourself, too. Have a great weekend!

Today is the first day of Spring: no snow allowed anymore so snow go away! Lori wants to walk and bike!

    Nice curtain.

I never really got used to R. being away all week what happened a lot in our first years together. Now it’s just twice a year for a weekend and I’m okay with that although by Sunday night I want him to come home. I’ll be a bachelorette next week from Thursday till Monday when he is taking a trip to Italy.

Hope you do some fun things on your own next week and he’ll be back before you know it.

Winter has been extremely tiresome this year.We have more snow coming today. Even Mr. Helen didn’t dare say to me that today is the first day of Spring – I think he knew I would snap. This is the year that has definitely made me decide I’m not staying here. I can put up with the cold but I detest the snow, so south I will go at least for 3-4 months each year.

Hopefully all the busy-ness will keep you otherwise occupied and before you have a chance to collect cats, John will be back!

Love the shower curtain! Very nice, and I am sure you’ll be able to repurpose it later on. You’re very crafty that way. And the price was right. $15?! Wow!

The tulip flag needs to be displayed. It is time!!! There is a lot less snow though and it’s got to feel good having clearer side walks. That’s progress. We’re in the 40s most of next week and then I’m hoping to climb from there. I’m ready for the ground to dry and to tackle some outdoor projects. Getting antsy.

Safe travels to John. LOVE the shower curtain!!! Dennis and I are doing separate vacations this year too. He’s off in June to see his parents, and timing doesn’t work for me. It’ll be so strange to have him gone for a week. I’m SURE John will miss you too Lori! And Pixie! Have a great weekend!

I was thinking of putting out my Spring flag, then realized I have to walk across the snow to get there. UGH!

Each evening it has been above 32* I head outside. As long as the sun stays above the roof tops, I can manage a few laps around our development.

Isn’t it weird how lonely the house gets when the hubbies go away? I lived on my own for nearly a decade before moving in with my boyfriend (now husband) and the house feels SO WEIRD when he goes on trips!

    Nice shower curtain. Good score.

Our snow (southern Ontario) is almost all gone. I have been watching the news about the snow that has been building up in the Maritimes. It just doesn’t want to end. They are running out of places to put it.

That shower curtain is gorgeous! I was thinking the same thing–that I would use the fabric for something pretty when I didn’t need the shower curtain. I used to buy the heavy duty clear curtain liners to use as a shower curtain, since my bathroom was so small, and I didn’t want to feel closed in. Plus, I could see if someone came in with a knife, a la Psycho. Yes, I shouldn’t have watched scary movies EVER.

Glad John gets a chance to spend some time with family, even if you miss him. I nearly spit out my wine when I read that he may come back to you having six stray cats – ha!
