Riding update.

Still progressing pretty well on my 2000 mile goal for the year. ย Here was this morning’s ride:

I couldn’t have planned that circuit more perfectly to end up at exactly 10 miles ๐Ÿ˜€ It was also chilly in the low 60s. It was in the 50s when we woke up this morning. Can you believe that for mid July??

For the year I am at 1157, so doing pretty good. ย I have found that in pursuing weight loss since the spring, I do get fatigued a little sooner than normal. I don’t bonk, but I do get tired. I am not fueling like I would be if I were maintaining, but I do think I am getting in enough calories.

We are 12 days into the Tour de France and they have done as many miles in 12 days as I have ridden since April LOL! ย I guess if my job was bike riding I could get in a lot more miles.

It does take a little planning to ride just about every day. I keep an eye on the weekly weather and gauge what days to ride and sometimes how long a ride will be if rain is coming in.

The 2000 mile goal isn’t so much about the actual mile goal, but setting that gets me consistent in my exercise and riding. All the smaller daily rides add up and being consistent will get me to my 2000.

I am sure you will hit 2000 miles!

I am still watching the TDF. I wonder why you cheer for Quintana? I’m not very impressed with his performance in the Tour. I am happy for Robert Gesink and Bauke Mollema, 2 Dutch cyclist who are still in the top 10 and can keep up most of the times with the group where Froome, Quintana and Van Garderen ride.

I like Quintana. He came in 2nd in 2013 in the TDF out of nowhere. Last year he didn’t do the tour to focus on the Giro, which he won. He is a climber, so his stages are coming up. Plus he seems like a really nice, humble person – so I will cheer that on any day ๐Ÿ˜€

I do have high hopes for TeJay to make the podium this year, though.

Every time you mention it I notice our weather is the same only you get it a day later. Which makes sense I guess. Based on that, don’t plan on any long rides tomorrow. LOL. I took advantage of that cool day to work in the yard/garden. Now I wish I had gone for a nice long ride instead. Your mileage mind-boggles me!

Yeah, the weather looks iffy for tomorrow. If I don’t water my garden tonight, though – it won’t rain, so maybe I will hold off on that ๐Ÿ˜‰

How long does it take you to ride 10 miles? I am all for consistency when it comes to exercise, but sometimes it’s not worth the laborious “gear up” (read, getting into the sports bra) for a quick run…do you have the same thought process?

About 45-50 minutes, so just a regular workout. Yeah, sometimes the gear up is annoying, but it’s all pre-shower anyway.

I am sure you’re going to make that goal – unless the weather falls apart suddenly. I use the same checking the weather thing for running. I’ve been rabid about it this summer because I have been so determined not to step a foot on the treadmill.

Yeah – I don’t hook the bike up to the trainer on rainy days because it just isn’t worth the hassle, so I will do whatever I can to squeak a ride in around the rain ๐Ÿ˜€
