Bathroom reno progress

I was thinking about saying something about the violence in California, but I don’t know what else to say. It’s the same old stuff all the time and nothing changes. Nothing ever changes. It’s depressing and I don’t know what to do about it.

The bathroom renovations are coming along well. I have a down weekend coming up, so I plan on doing the majority of my room.  I painted trim and started taking out the floor. It’s too late to go back now.

This is the toilet and sink that will be moving to the basement bathroom (John’s project). This room gets new flooring, light blue paint, the new vanity and toilet. I hope to get the flooring done and the room painted this weekend. It’s a small room, so hopefully it won’t take too long (haha). John said the old green tile looks like it belongs in a bank. The new flooring will be something along these lines:

Or basketweave. I couldn’t find the exact picture of it. You’ll see it soon enough. My biggest worry with this project is drilling the holes in the top of the vanity cabinet for the vessel sink and faucet. I hope I don’t screw that up because that would be a real problem. That’s why I haven’t done it yet. 🙂

I have been on a football pick winning streak. Poor John. He was won only 3 times out of 12 this year. I seem to have the magic touch. ESPN, I’m waiting for my call to be a pundit! Anyway, tonight for my winning meal, we went out to a new place in town called Dizzy Chicken. They make everything in house from scratch and have their own smoker for meats. Of course, John doesn’t eat meat, but they have things like veggie paninis and mac and cheese.  I had a brisket panini and parmesan fries:

Good stuff.  We were talking today about how little cooking we have been doing because of all the work on the house and me doing the soap stuff. We aren’t really eating out much, but eating easy stuff like yogurt and omelets and all that.  I miss cooking. We need to plan some crockpot meals this weekend.

Now for a little resting and football.

I love following along on your house renovations. Yes, it’s amazing that we just accept all theses shootings as “normal” and can’t do anything to change it. Isn’t that the definition of insanity?

      It is insanity.

I think you will love the vanity that I’m making. If I don’t ruin it, it will probably be my most favorite thing I’ve done!

    I love that floor tile!

My husband pointed out this Time magazine article about how gun violence was the subject of their 1968 cover story–and nothing’s really changed. The letter writer from 1968 quoted in the last line about what life would be like today had it exactly right.

It is so so sad and depressing.
And I just keep looking at my daughter and thinking WHEN WILL ANYTHING CHANGE FOR YOU/THE WORLD?

I also feel pretty helpless about the shootings. It’s so sad.

Can’t wait to see your new bathroom. Have a good weekend.

I feel like you – speechless about this never ending violence.

I’m so glad Mr. Helen and I didn’t do picks against each other this year as I have royally sucked. We opted to do a pool at his work so even though I’m not winning I’m only losing $3 each time I play instead of having to pay $20 for a meal LOL!

I’m looking forward to seeing what floors you pick. I redid my bathroom earlier this year but didn’t do the floors (yet). I just couldn’t decide on what to do. It’s a really small space.

You need you own home renovation show!!!!!!

And as for here where I live – I have no words either… so sad & scary! I hate to say it makes me even more cautious as we have many in our area & many work out when I do – no english spoken so… really – I still give everyone the benefit of the doubt but it does make me more cautious… unfortunately!

Yum the eating out dinner looks good. You should use your crockpot more, you know as well as I do that eating yogurt or omelettes isn’t a balanced lifestyle 🙂 I can understand though that because you are so busy you don’t have time to cook much.

Love the progress on the bathroom.
