Feeling like summer!

That was some warm weather that blew in today. We hit highs in the mid 70s, can you believe that? It felt like May, not March!  We actually had our first breakfast ride of the year. We’ve been able to walk downtown for most of the winter because it has been more mild, but the biggest reason was the lack of snow so the sidewalks were walkable most of the days.

It’s almost more than I can stand with the warm temps and nothing in the garden yet LOL. I’m getting so impatient. My mom had gotten me a subscription to Birds and Blooms as a Christmas gift, and the first issue of that arrived, which just gets the spring feeling going even more:

That article headline at the top about helping pollinators — that’s my goal for the gardens, essentially. I don’t use pesticides and try to choose plants that bees, butterflies and hummingbirds like (and me). I will have to get some Sluggo for slugs and snails, though, as they had a field day in my shade bed I’ve been working on.

We walked downtown this evening and the sky was spring gorgeous!

Isn’t it amazing how weather can affect your mood?

Of course, it feels like summer, but it sure doesn’t look like it. This was from yesterday’s ride:

Of course, last year at this time the path still had snow on it. Not this year!

My biking bud <3

Temps are going to cool back down to the 50s, but that’s still great for this time of year. Lots of biking to be done! I’ve already got 45 miles on the bike so far this year.

70s!?! Jealous!!! It’s 50 degrees, stormy and rainy here! Glad you got to get out and bike in some nice weather.

What a great gift from your Mum. I’m sure it will give you PLENTY of ideas for your garden! Don’t overwhelm yourself. ha ha. I love the picture with the traffic lights hanging from the wires – says ‘America’ to me as I’ve not seen them like that elsewhere. I wish we had local paths to ride on safely. A lot of people ride locally but it’s all mountain biking in the forest and on the range. Jeff goes out most days and has crazy downhill trail rides – too difficult for me at this stage. I’d have to drive to the coast to have nice riding paths like you have. I shall be satisfied by vicariously going on rides with you!

If you can believe it, it was warmer at your house than it was here! And overcast and threatening rain. So great that you got to get out on the bikes so early in the year.

Temps hit the 70s in Boston yesterday and I have crocuses, daffodils and irises blooming. Happy for you that your riding season started so early but sad I never got mine. I only have 45 miles on my snowmobile 🙁 I thought 600 miles last year was bad. Ride on!

It has definitely been the most amazing winter ever! We hit mid 60s on Monday and now it’s in the 40s/50s but the 60s are coming back for Saturday!!! I’m definitely hitting the clothesline hard and airing things out. Hurray!

So true about weather and mood! I wish I didn’t have to work these past couple of days as I would have liked to be outside all the time. Glad you got biking time – gardening soon, right?

So cool you are riding already! You look so happy. I’m a bit jealous but maybe you’ll inspire me to get a bit of pre-season work done on the bike so I will be ready to ride when the weather comes.

Love that you’re biking already and feeling happy! Gardening time will be here before you know it!

What plants do bees out there like best? In our yard, they really go for the lavender and rosemary plants. I’ve been toying with getting a hanging fuscia for the hummingbirds, but it can get pretty gusty on the coast.

That is really warm for this time of year. So happy you have a mild winter and can ride this early in the season (not to mention you could ride till December).

We are in the 50’s this weekend too with lots of sunshine. I have planned a hike for Sunday, I’m a little bit sad Bella can’t go but that’s how it is now.
And it also helps we have more daylight nowadays. Yep it’s beginning to feel a lot like Spring 🙂
