Maine trip part deux

We got into Maine and had a place booked in Kennebunk. We used Airbnb to book a place. It was called Songbird Suite, so if you go there, check out Ann’s place. The room was nice and not too far from the main area of Kennebunk. A much, much better experience than our last Airbnb.

Kennebunkport is a cute town.

Of course, it’s very touristy, but when it’s not crowded it’s fun. It was breezy and cloudy while we were here.

We visited the ocean, of course. It was low tide when we got there and there was a little surf.

Did you know you can take a selfie with a Rebel? I hadn’t ever tried it before, but it worked, other than being super awkward holding it.

My head looks huge. It seems whomever takes the selfie has the biggest head in pictures LOL!

I was taking pictures of John at the water’s edge. He stood on a rock thinking it was far enough from the waves. It wasn’t and this was John looking down at his feet after the wave washed over them.

Oops. Good thing his shoes were waterproof!

There were 2 things that were a must for me on this trip. One was a trip back to Congdon’s donuts. The best donuts ever!

I couldn’t care less about how many calories are in these. They are soooo good!

We did some walking in Ogunquit and then headed out to see the Nubble lighthouse:

It still shows a light:

I wonder if it looks like the Eye of Sauron from the front. :0

It was time to head home and we stopped at Beach Plum for a later lunch (donuts were filling!). This was the 2nd thing I wanted this trip. A lobster roll:

I love these. Beach Plum does a good job with them, too. Very little dressing to let the lobster flavor come out. This is a 6 ounce roll. Still $18, though! Β These things are expensive, which is probably good because I would eat more of them LOL.

It was nice to get away, but far too short a trip.

Wow, this part of the trip looks so neat too! The town is super cute, and the water, and of course, THE DONUTS!! Oh, and the lobster roll isn’t bad either. I don’t like mayonnaise, so I don’t think I’d get the roll, just go for the plain ol’ lobster! I’m glad you guys had such a good adventure.

I don’t like mayo, either, but this roll has hardly any, so I bet you would like it. Plus the toasted roll. Yum.

Such a lovely trip! Such a cute town you stayed at.

When I did my photo workshop, one of the things I learned was how to make a selfie with the Nikon. But since I hate selfies of myself I never did it again after that and deleted that photo πŸ™‚

Calories don’t count on vacation. Life is to be enjoyed and if you can’t do that on vacation, then when? We have actually been in this part of Maine but I never heard of this donut place. It’s going on my “if we ever go here again list.”

Do you prefer the lobster roll made with mayo or the one with hot butter? The hot buttered roll seems to be a favorite of locals around here, but tourists like the mayo. I only know this because we were at one of our seasonal places last weekend and I asked lol!

Definitely with the buttered roll. I am not a big fan of mayo and that’s why I like Beach Plum.

Congdon is in Wells, between Ogunquit and Kennebunk. You must go there. It’s always really crowded, but worth it. My suggestion is to get donuts to go and pick up better coffee elsewhere πŸ˜€

I’ve never been to that part of the states before, it’s definitely on my bucket list. Glad that the airbnb turned out well for you! People in Chicago are kind of sick of airbnb guests – I guess there is one condo unit that has like 16 units, and 10 of the units are mostly used for airbnb so you have all sorts of people coming in and out.

My hubby and I were in Maine at the beginning of the month for 10 days. We spent the last day in and around Kennebunk. It was our second time in Maine (first in 2006) and we remembered the donuts at Congdon’s, but they were closed when we stopped this time. πŸ™ I absolutely LOVE lobster (in any form) so I ate a lot of lobster rolls on this vacation (along with clam chowder and blueberry pie). But yikes the market price was crazy! I can’t imagine living as close as you do. I’d be vacationing there all the time! (in the off season of course, as I can’t stand crowds!)

Kennebunk looks like a fun place to visit. I hope to make a trip out there. The water and coastline look great. The closest body of water I live near is about a 5 hour drive – Lake Superior.
