A look into my eye

Our fall temperatures didn’t last too long. Back to the 80s again with humidity. Ick.  I think Ireland might feel like a bit of a shocker with coolness if these temps don’t go down some.

When it was chillier, I made some pumpkin oat bran. Also to start using up open stuff in the fridge 😀oatb9-20

I just cook the canned pumpkin right with the oat bran and whisk in some egg whites. Topped with a bit of butter, dried cranberries and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (the real stuff).  Definitely seems like a fall breakfast even if the weather isn’t.

I had to get my new iPhone replaced already. I just got it in June but one of the microphones broke in it.  If I took a video with the front facing camera, the sound only came out as static. I was bummed because I recorded a bit of the Divas the other night and it was just static.  It used to work. The weird thing? If I took a video with the rear facing camera, the sound worked.  So after forever on the phone trying to prove it wasn’t software related, I got them to issue me a replacement phone under warranty.  Then I had to spend time backing up and reinstalling on the new phone, but all appears well and good now 😀

Anyway, back to the title of today’s post. Today was eye appointment day.  It was the full shebang, too, with dilation and pictures of my retina. I don’t know if any of you find the human body fascinating, but I do.  John doesn’t LOL.  I have a bit of scar tissue on the back of my retina and today the doctor took comparison pictures to make sure it hasn’t changed since it is close to my macula.  Here is my eye:

Isn’t that a cool picture?  That white stuff is the scar tissue. She said it could have been some infection as a kid or whatever. No way to really tell what created it, but it’s in both eyes.  It doesn’t require anything other than periodic pictures to make sure it isn’t changing.

I had only a bit of vision change in one eye and I do need reading glasses (which I knew anyway and already bought a pair).  Ah, aging…

I’m always happy to see a new post from you, whatever you blog about. I have family in upstate and you keep me aware of the things going on up there. It’s such a pleasure to read your writing.

ohh that picture is VERY COOL and very similar to what this woman gets at her eye docs as well.
I have…not so great retina genetics.
We make sure to take photos and more photos and SCRUTINIZE THE PHOTOS and…

    and Im grateful.

I just had all those tests as well – I find them fascinating as long as I don’t think about it too hard, otherwise I get grossed out LOL!

Like you, our “fall” lasted just one day and we’ve been back to summer (no complaints here), though they’re forecasting a big cooldown for the weekend. I’ll probably appreciate cool temps on my long run Saturday morning but right now I just wish it would stay warm 🙂

I’m both fascinated by stuff like this and horrified too. I want to look but only out of one eye (no pun or anything).

My eyes are terrible and getting worse. I wish there was something they could do with modern technology but so far that doesn’t seem to be the case. You may physically be a little older than I but your eyes surely aren’t!! 🙂

I first had optic pictures taken nearly 20 years ago and I remember being amazed that they could actually DO something like that at the time. I agree, it’s really interesting to see inside your eyeball.

I’m curious. Here they charge extra for the optic picture (insurance doesn’t cover it.) Do you have to pay extra there?

Its getting to be oatmeal weather here too!

Yes. It is extra and our insurance doesn’t cover eye stuff, so the whole exam and everthing else is out of pocket, unfortunately.

    Boo on the phone!!!!

My eye doc has a machine so don’t have to do the eye dilation thing!!! It takes cool pics like that too – very cool to see them. Glad nothing is worng!

    I a=know all about reading glasses!!! 🙂

That’s really cool the pic of your eye.

When I had a paralyzed voice cord I could see it on camera and I was fascinated by it too.

Being diabetic, I’ve had that eye test done for years – totally cool! Diabetic rhetinopothy (sp?!) is the leading cause of blindness in diabetics, and I am happy that my eyes haven’t changed at all in the last 15 years I’ve been taking that test.

You are already on your trip by the time you read this – I hope you have the best time!!!!
