Shows done!

Whew!! The last show of the year finished this weekend. Yay!

This was the Shirt Factory open house. I know I’ve talked about the Shirt Factory before. It’s a great piece of local history. Way back in “the day” the factory employed hundreds of women sewing not just shirts, but other types of fashion clothes.  Here is a mural picture that was behind my spot this weekend.

Back when stuff was all made by hand. There were many jobs for women here.

Now the building houses artists and small businesses.  This one is relatively new, Victoria’s Corner.  The do the things I love like upcycling and painting furniture.

They sell chalk paint there and do classes as well.

This year there was a large gingerbread house created and on display in one of the shops:

When you walked into this room – it smelled so good!  I loves me some gingerbread.

All my soaps in a row:

Right after I took this picture and looked at it, I went over and straightened out all the bars evenly LOL!  Not that the straightening lasted long once people started picking them up, but it was momentarily aligned.

It was a good show. Best sellers were Sea Mist, Frankincense & Myrrh, Lavender. I did better this year than last year, which is always nice!  I have to say I was so ready to be done with the shows.  It was a *lot* of work this fall.

After getting packed up and done, we swung over to Moe’s for a quick dinner.  You know how when you see a commercial for a food and then get the actual meal, they never look as good as pictured? Well, this time Moe’s plated up the food great!  This was John’s smothered burrito (veggie)

Nice job Moe’s!!

We are settled in now as all that snow has been working its way east and is now falling here.

The forecast is for 3-6 inches, but who knows how much will come. Some schools have closed already for tomorrow. Time to get the shovels ready!

Congrats on another good show! I know how much work they are. I love the picture of the women working in the shirt factory! And now I have a craving for a burrito 🙂

The Chapman (where I volunteer) did an exhibit on the factory and the workers. There are local people who either worked there or their grandmothers did.

That’s an impressive gingerbread house! Makes me have aspirations, but mine will more than likely be goofy-looking this year once again.

Yay for being done with the shows! You had a lot of soap options – that was a neat picture of everything all lined up. Love that sewing shot – look at the hard wooden chairs those women sat on. Life was a lot harder (literally, ha!) back then!

It’s interesting walking around the factory knowing how much hustle and bustle went on and now it’s quiet and “artsy”.

Can you even imagine sitting on that hard wooden chair for eight hours a day? I can’t imagine sewing for that many hours, even if I were in a luxury suite, and I’m sure no one would want to buy anything I put together for them. Sewing…yeah, not one of my talents!

I’m glad your shows are over for the year. Your soaps look very nice. Wish I had smell-o-vision, so I could smell them. I bet they smell great!

We had snow in NEPA all weekend. I am so behind in my Christmas shopping that I may never catch up. Time to hunker down and get ‘er done this week. Only a few days left.

I have a few straggler gifts to get as well. Some online, but maybe a trip to a local store as well on a week night when it isn’t crowded!

What a great building for your show. You know that sewing was my Mom’s job when she was around 18 years old. She has always been great at it. As children we almost only wear clothes she made for us.
