New computer and stress eating

As you know, I have been really struggling with my computer.  It finally got to the point where I was unable to take a phone order since it wasn’t working properly. Can’t have that, so I broke down and got a new one. Well, it is a refurbished computer. I wasn’t really wanting to get a refurbished, but there is that whole budget thing. It was done by a Microsoft official refurbisher, which is a good thing. It’s a Dell Latitude and is quite the upgrade from my Lenovo.

Of course, I had problems setting it up from the get-go.  We couldn’t get it connected to the wi-fi in the house and we thought for sure it was defective, but it turns out the wi-fi switch on the side was turned off (derp). Now it works and tonight is going to be spent transferring my programs and files over.  The old computer was causing me too much stress, so this should be good. It’s got a lot of memory and platoons of storage space.

I have to say that my eating has been a bit all over the place lately. I’ve gained 2 pounds, so I have to get myself motivated to get back to basics. I have at least logged food every day, but sometimes not the whole day because I just get sidetracked.

Back to my usual breakfast blintzes

This time with applies instead of blueberries.

I need to sit and plan out the next day’s food. It’s a lot easier to eat when you can look up and see what is planned. Snacking is really the problem, and that has been a problem in the past as well, so it isn’t anything new. I tend to eat when I get stressed about stuff. It’s been my coping mechanism and I really don’t mind that it still is that way because now I am able to shut it off before it gets out of hand. Honestly, I doubt that stress eating is something I will ever be free of. Acknowledging that allows me to not feel bad about stress eating, which in turn makes it easier to stop.

Now it’s time to work on that new computer!

I so hear you on the stress eating!! I know that is my issue too. Life gets tough & it is hard to work thru it. Honestly, this T thing has me stress eating!! I have to not let HIM be my downfall!!! Work search is stressful too but more the orange face thing & all of them in Washington!

I’m glad you got a new computer – once everything is transferred over, it’s going to be so nice for you!

Stress eating – I get that. Maybe this will be the end of it now that you’re not having to deal with a dumb computer that isn’t working…that really is the worst!

I’m glad you mentioned you don’t think the stress eating will end, but you recognize it now and can catch it. I never really thought I was a stress eater until putting some of this weight back on. So many times I hear people talking like it’s something that has to stop forever if they are going to be successful. The last three years have taught me some lessons on how I react to life and being okay with being able to stop things before they get worse, without telling myself this overeating reaction has to stop permanently for me to be successful, really is more freeing. I hope that made sense…

And yay for the new computer (even though at a bummer to have to spend the money..). 🙂

I’ve always known that I stress eat, but accepting that will likely not change has been really good for my psyche. No guilt that way.

Well as we know it’s a lot easier to get 2 lbs. in check rather than 20. You’re smart to acknowledge what’s going on. Having said that I’m in snow eating mode today as we wait out the blizzard.

Yay for a new computer! Surely that could be a tax write off since you need it for work?

Congrats on the new computer! Your blintzes look so good–well, actually the fruit topping is what looks delicious!

I don’t stress eat so much any more, but I think I boredom eat. Not that I”m bored that often, just that eating for the pure enjoyment of it sounds good to me too often 🙂

The topping is something I make all the time. Chopped apple with 10 grams of Craisins (and generous cinnamon) sauteed in a pan for about 5 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of water and add to the pan. Cook until thickened. Easy peasy. I have it with yogurt fairly often.

I am doing pretty good about stress eating – er, let me say that I “TRACK” my stress eating and move on. I am still trying to get away from eating food as being guilty or bad. Just better choices!

Hooray for the new computer! Jacob upgraded his computer, so I got his old Mac book pro, which is a few years old, but Wow so speedy compared to Tony’s old laptop I’ve been using!

    Yay for a new computer.

I know you can get over stress eating. I used to do that, especially after my dad passed away. I put everything in my mouth I could get my hands on. But the past couple of years when I have stress I don’t automatically reach to food. Usually a walk outdoors helps because it clears my mind.
