Word Wednesday

I was going to do a Wordless Wednesday post — after first checking to make sure it was actually Wednesday — but then I realized I just like words. I may not use a ton in my posts, but I like them nonetheless.

Morning biking today for breakfast:

I do love my routines.

I actually had pretty good sleep last night. The day we got back from Colorado, I had horrible insomnia, which was my pattern for a while now. Then for 2 days in a row I slept and slept hard getting about 8 hours of sleep. I was shocked!  I felt so good those days and thought “this is what people who sleep normally feel like”.  Too bad it didn’t last.

I shared a picture of these on instagram the other day:

Yes – I made them. King Arthur Flour has a bake along series and each month they post a recipe for everyone to try.  I hadn’t done one until this month, I’ve got the baking bug. I really do love to bake, but for obvious calorie reasons, I don’t bake near as much as I would like.

Anyway, July’s recipe is Blueberry Hand Pies. Here is the link to the recipe. It’s pretty easy, although there are a fair number of steps.

These were delicious!

I really haven’t been steered wrong with KA recipes. Good stuff.

I’m gearing up for fall and holiday with the soap biz already. Getting stock up for the wholesale buying which really starts to hit in August. Boxing and labeling:

Still lots more to go, but I’m feeling pretty prepared for the season so far.

I don’t know about where you are, but we have had garden friendly weather this year. Rain every few days. I’ve actually only needed to water the garden a few times this whole summer.  See how happy it is?

And it makes me happy 😀

Wow, rain every few days sounds like heaven. And turning the oven on in July, surely you jest. Those hand pies look awesome. Signed, Jealous in Hot and Dry Missouri.

We’ve actually had a bit too much rain so my flowers and patio pots don’t look so great.

After you posted the photo on Instagram I went looking for that recipe! I am going to try my hand (harhar) at them this Saturday as we are having, yes, more rain. I figure some pie will help me to feel better about being cheated out of a beach day.

You can make these for sure. The hardest part was cutting the squares an even size and keeping the dough chilled while working with it. I had a baking sheet in the freezer and would bring it out to set on the dough when it got too soft. I might try doing chocolate ones 😀

Your hand pies look beautiful – very professional! And yummy, of course.

I am having to water our plants every day because they are just getting burned up with our heat…and come to think of it, we haven’t had rain in a few weeks. Your yard is so pretty!

Even our lawn is really green, which usually at this time of year is starting to look tired and drying out. I don’t water the lawn ever (unless we put down new grass seed) and let it fend for itself, so it’s nice to have it looking good now.

I need to make those hand pies! Blueberries are at their peak, so I may have to make them work into my meal plan – they look like they might freeze well too?!

Definitely going to be trying that hand pie recipe – they look scrumptious! Thanks for sharing it.

There is some light rain out here this morning, which is welcome, if just to get the dust tamped down. I’ll be ready for more sunshine by tomorrow, though.

Yum those pies look delicious. I like to bake, I try to bake something every two weeks. But sometimes fail. I baked a biscuit for a pie last Saturday and did something wrong (by now I also know what it was) and it was a failure. So no pie for us last weekend 🙂

We have rain on and off this season and like you we hardly have to water our garden. I was just thinking how pretty my garden is yesterday. The downside of this is that weeds grow fast too 🙂
