Bulletproof coffee

Have you ever heard of bulletproof coffee? It’s a recent craze, particularly among paleo/low carb people to add butter and MCT (coconut) oil to coffee and blend it.  Coffee lover that I am, I was intrigued about this, but never quite had the nerve to try it. However, I am certainly not afraid to try something just for the heck of it!

But first, a little backstory: I like to eat a big breakfast. It’s usually around 400 calories or a little more. I eat around 7 am. You would think that 400+ calories would be enough to last until lunchtime, right? I read blogs and things on line where people eat oatmeal or maybe a piece of toast with an egg or even just coffee with cream and a few slices of bacon and they are so full until lunchtime. How do they do it? I feel like my system is totally effed up. By 10 a.m., I am really hungry. Like blood sugar drop hungry – not mind hungry. So, I usually eat a protein bar or something like that to tide me over. Oddly enough, the only times I am not hungry before lunch are the 2 days we go out for bagels for breakfast – and there is almost always exercise involved with that by either walking or biking to breakfast. So maybe it is just calories.

I have tried a lot of different things. I normally do a carb/fat/protein balanced breakfast (oats with egg whites and nut butter, banana breakfast bread pudding, protein waffles, blintzes, etc). I’ve tried high protein with eggs and sausage. Same thing, hungry at 10 a.m.  Higher carb breakfast, same thing. Like if we maked baked donuts. The only thing I hadn’t tried was a pure fat breakfast which, to be honest, sounds scary and a little gross LOL! I finally decided to try a bulletproof coffee and make it around 400 calories like a normal breakfast for my little n=1 experiment.

Now, I don’t believe any of the hype that it has to be a specific kind of coffee. The guy that ‘invented’ bulletproof coffee sells a special one, but his claims aren’t anything that the coffee industry as a whole isn’t already doing with they way they process the beans. Guru-ism at its best. Anyway, here I am ready to do the coffee.

I dropped 1.5 tablespoons of unsalted butter into a mixer cup. Please use unsalted butter. I can’t imagine how awful salted butter would taste! I do admit to looking at this and thinking am I really going to do this?

WP_20160118_002

Our Magic Bullet is on the fritz, so I used a cup from it and then an immersion blender. Be careful if you do this since hot liquid and skin contact is no bueno, right? Just don’t fill the cup too full.

Then blend until it is emulsified and frothy. It looks sort of like a latte or something, doesn’t it?

WP_20160118_003b

For the coconut oil part, I ended up just eating a tablespoon of coconut butter, which I adore and could eat by the spoonful anyway.

Enjoying my breakfast while perusing the flower catalog:

WP_20160118_006b

How is the taste? Surprisingly, it’s pretty good! It is creamy, almost like coffee with milk, and the butter does not separate out, which I thought it might do.  It really isn’t greasy, surprisingly. I maybe noticed a bit on my lips, but not enough that it was bothersome. The coffee flavor is more crisp and pronounced – for lack of a better term – than a cup of coffee with cream, but fat  brings out the fat soluble flavors in the coffee anyway (which is why I never drink it black). If you had given me this and not said it was blended with butter, I wouldn’t know what was in it.

I had 2 of these and with the coconut butter and my ‘breakfast’ came in at 400 calories.  The verdict? Fail. I was hungry around 10:30.  LOL. On a side note, I had some concerns about having gastric distress from a fat breakfast, but that didn’t happen either. No issues with that. I know you all wanted to know about that. 😀

So, while that was interesting, I doubt I would deliberately make butter coffee again. If someone gave me one, I would drink it. It is good to know that if we were out of milk for some reason and I wanted a cup of coffee, I could still have one without resorting to drinking it black.

As far as the calorie thing goes, I guess if I want to last until lunch I need to increase my calories at breakfast. It just seems like 400 calories should be enough, you know? Especially when you are decreasing calories and you only get so many in the day, it is easy to eat a lot of them for breakfast. I don’t really know why I feel the need to not eat between breakfast and lunch, but maybe it is because it’s easier to over consume food if I have a snack and breakfast.

Anyway, that was my little experiment. I’m glad I finally did it so I can stop wondering 😀

Cold Brewed Coffee on a hot muggy day

Heat wave!  This northern girl doesn’t like such heat and humidity.  Not to mention what it does to my hair! 😀  One nice thing about really hot weather?  The gym is empty.  Not sure why because going into the air conditioned gym this morning was like a little slice of heaven.

Today was lower reps and higher weights for this set.

Exercise Set/rep/weight
1. Crunches on stability ball 2 sets of 15
2. Complex: High Pull, Front Squat/Push Press, Back Squat, Good Morning 4 sets of 8 each exercise with 20# bar
3A.  Deadlift 4 sets of 5 with 95# bar
3B. Dumbbell Overhead Press with rotation 4 sets of 5 with 20# DBs
3C. Single Leg Squat 4 sets of 5
3D. Bent Over Row 4 sets of 5 with 55# bar

I would have set off the lunk alarm at Planet Fitness with the deadlifts by the 4th set.  Good thing I don’t go there  😈

It was already quite warm when I got back.  I made up cold-brewed coffee for today. It takes a little forethought, but soooooooo much better than brewing coffee and putting ice in it or saving old coffee in the fridge.  The night before, take 1 cup of ground coffee and put it in a container with 4 cups of water.

Stir well.

Stick in the fridge overnight and then filter it the next day.  A french press would be faster.  This is the most time consuming part because you have to wait for coffee to filter through. This is just the basket from our Bunn on top of the carafe.  It works pretty well.

Voila – beautiful and flavorful cold-brewed coffee (with milk)!

I had made up some banana custard oats as well and let them sit out to get to room temp.  I know it sounds gross, but I didn’t want hot oats and overnight refrigerator oats aren’t my thing.

Pixie is hiding from the heat.

Poor girl. I almost have a mind to take her to the groomer and get her shaved for the summer, but I don’t know how she would handle it.  Our AC downstairs does okay, but it really only gets down to about 77 degrees since we just have the one for the whole downstairs.  I don’t know how you Gulf states people can handle it.

Lunch time:

Loving the ground turkey again.

The day went pretty fast with work today.  This whole week went fast.  I took a break for an iced latte.

Hot or cold. Is there any way coffee is bad??

With the heat, I wanted a nice cool dinner.  I had made up some blueberry topping and put it in a bowl with some Cascadian Farm Oh’s and greek yogurt.

This was awesome!  Almost like a dessert 😀

We need to wait until the sun goes down before walking for a little ice cream tonight.  First up will be a movie.  Anyone remember the old Hobbit cartoon from the late 1970s?

Memories.  It’s not a 70’s feature without the guitar playing folk singer!

Hope you all are staying cool.

Scooterin’

Lifting day!  It was another cold night.  There was a touch of frost on the car this morning.  Brrrr.  It got very nice out later, though.  I got my big protein drink ready to go to the gym.

Quiet at the gym today, which is nice.  Thursdays are usually pretty busy.  I worked hard to increase my weights on a few of the exercises. You really do have to challenge yourself every time you go to the gym, otherwise you stagnate.  Today, I increased on the single bent-leg deadlift, decreased the chin up assistance, and increased the offset squat.  I left it all on the gym floor (along with sweat. Ewww… ).  I was wiped out!

When I got home, I made up a banana bread pudding and topped with with my blueberry sauce.  I did nibble on some granola that John had out because I was hungry (even after drinking my protein shake).

Bigger banana = bigger breakfast.  Yum!  Why have I not tried this combo before?

Brain fried today.  So, so busy for work.  Plus it’s getting later in the week.  I may work at home, but I do work really hard.

Lunchtime came really fast because of being busy.  I used up the last of the goose eggs and made a cheese omelet for lunch.  This is 1 egg!

Honk, honk!

I also got confirmation in the mail for my registration for Becoming an Outdoors Woman at the end of June.  I did this last year (recaps) and had a lot of fun.  It is being held in the same place.  I also got my first choices on my classes!  I will do Kayaking on Friday; Birding Basics and Adirondack Ecology on Saturday, and Plant Identification on Sunday.  It’s hard to choose classes, too.  I also thought about archery and basic map and compass.  Maybe next year.  I have never been kayaking before.

John was my savior in the afternoon with my latte. I paired this one with some dried pineapple.

John also fired up the grill for dinner with some pork ribs, which I forgot to get a picture of! Guess I was hungry.

Warmer weather and we wanted to go out for coffee tonight.  How to save gas? First scooter ride of the year!

Okay, let’s try that photo again:

On arrival:

This weekend, I might change the theme for my blog. Maybe there is something corrupt in that causing the comment issue.  The stupid comment issue.  The stupid, time sucking comment issue! Can you tell it is irritating the crap out of me? I don’t know whether to be angry at wordpress or google.  Or both. How about that? Yes, I will be angry and annoyed with both. Okay, I feel better now  😀

Question: Have you ever been kayaking?

Hello coffee??

It sure doesn’t feel like winter around here.

There is no snow on the ground and we hit 40 degrees today!  What is up with that?  Well, I guess global warming is what is up with that…

The coffee maker died today.  The other day it stopped brewing, but then started again, so we weren’t totally surprised this happened.  I pushed the brew button this morning and it started, then stopped.  I unplugged it and plugged it back in.  It started brewing again, but then stopped and started making a ticktickticktick sound, which was mildly alarming, so I shut it off.  Don’t need any explosions before 8 a.m. thank you.  It also started leaking water out the bottom.  Guess it is time for a new one!  We had to boil water in the tea kettle and pour it over the grounds to have coffee.  While I wish we could afford the uber technical Technivorm brewer, I think we are going to go with the Bunn.

A little industrial looking, but the coffee is really good from it. Guess we have to drag out the french press for now.

I made up a flax waffle (aka 1 minute muffin) and topped it with some peanut flour today.  This has a nice mix of fat and protein, plus fiber!

Work has been busy since I got back.  I don’t know if anybody missed me, but I know they missed how much work I normally do!  At least I still had a job when I got back.  You just never know.

Egg salad for lunch today.  Funny how I despise mayo, but I like egg salad.  One of those weird quirks.

I have been loving potato chips lately, too.  They are gluten free

It was nice enough today that I could roast my coffee outside and get a darker roast today.  While the brewer is dead, the espresso machine is alive and well! Here is one of my souvenirs I got at Disney for my afternoon latte.

Love!!  This is about a 12 ounce mug.

I also had some more cashews.

Pixie loves the sunny weather.

Will you move my blanket to the sun please??

It’s been a poultry kind of week around here.  I am tired of turkey, but still stayed in the family with chicken for dinner.  Hey, it was thawed out!

This was an especially delicious pear.  I could never give up fruit.  Ever.  They would have to pry it from my cold dead hands before I give it up.

I have to pamper John tonight.  He is even more stuffy and getting feverish, poor guy.  I am so glad I didn’t get what he has.  At least we know I didn’t give it to him, so no guilt there.  But first is riding the trainer for a bit.

Another reminder for the Healthy Heart Weekend!  I’ll be annoying with by the end of the week, I am sure.  Another one of the prizes I am giving away is a coconut prize.  A pound of coconut flour and a box of my beloved coconut butter!  Still have to think of a third one.

October goals!

Thanks for all the comments on the photo shoot yesterday! It’s funny how everyone has a different opinion on which outfit looks the best.

I will think about getting the pants, but also, I have to think about how often I will really wear them.  Since I work at home, I have no dress code and there is the cat with white fur factor. Not to mention that I usually buy consignment and have not bought a brand new pair of pants in years! I guess that is a little sad LOL.

Funny story.  There was sooooooo much hairspray in my hair yesterday.  I mean crispy candy coating amount. It hurt a lot to try to brush it out last night. Well, I had a sweaty night last night since we put a quilt on the bed (which I didn’t need).  I woke up and my hair was stuck to the pillow because of being sweaty and all the hairspray!

Back to the norm today and that called for pumpkin oats!

This was paired with some Peet’s Cafe Domingo Coffee that I recieved through being part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program.  When we lived in Colorado, there was  Peet’s cafe that we used to like going to.

They also graciously sent some $2 off coupons for Peets to buy at your grocery store, so if you would like one, please email me at javaqueen01@yahoo.com and I will mail one out.  I have 5 coupons available, so first come first serve.

Finally, a day to just work and get it done.  I got right to work right through until lunch time!  I made up an open face sandwich on GF bread with peanut flour and jam.

Plus the roundest pear ever.  Looks like an apple, but this one tasted like pear!

With all the doins’ last week and over the weekend, I am just finally getting around to posting my October goals.  Better late than never, right? October is a much more relaxed month for us typically, although the business gets busy this month.

1.  Water conservation.  We just got our water bill, so  this is a perfect time to try this.  I tend to daydream in the shower, which can waste a lot of water. So I am going to get wet, wash my face, then turn off the water to soap up the rest of me and my hair.  Then turn the water on and rinse.  I am curious to see if this has any effect on our water bill.

2. Post a pink picture each day! Like the last 2 Octobers, I will be doing the pink picture with the link to click to provide mammograms to those in need. If all my readers click that, we would have well over 300 clicks a day.  This is a much better way than those cryptic Facebook messages like shoe size and what you are craving to raise breast cancer awareness, don’t you think?

3. Keep going with Pilates 2x a week.  This was good for me and I really need to keep doing that or stretching at a minimum.

4.  Try 4 new recipes this month and post them.  Like last month.  I think people seem to like these as my recipe posts get the most traffic (and the fewest comments…hmmm).

5. Be conscious of wheat.  I am not eliminating wheat, but I am going to reduce it as often as I think to.

A relaxed month 😀

For more relaxation, how about a latte?

Paired with a pumpkin cranberry oat bar that I made for all the ladies that were at my photo shoot yesterday.  Did I mention I love pumpkin?

It felt good to get back to standard fare around Casa Radiance for dinner.  We ate a lot of rich foods last week.

John and I took a walk up the street.  On our road there are a cluster of fast food places all about 1/2 mile from our house. Pizza Hut, McD’s, Subway, another pizza joint, Chinese and Dunkin Donuts.  We stopped in for some decaf at Dunkins and I got 2 pumpkin munchkins (ooops on the wheat here).

I used to love DD, but not so much anymore. It just makes me want to make my own donuts at home!

Pink picture of the day.

Question: Any big plans for October?

What’s Blooming Today!

it’s Friday! This week went by so fast, didn’t it? Yesterday was pretty dreary round here, although it was quite warm so John and I decided to walk up the street for ice cream. I ended up eating caramel apple sundae and I was way too full last night. Oops.

That meant a lighter breakfast today. I made up some of my protein waffles. I had half of a batch topped with some sautéed bananas and coconut butter.

I really love this combo.

I started work early and then decided to take a walk. No more running for me. It’s kind of a relief to say that. I can do just fine walking, biking, and lifting weights.

The other half of my protein waffles made an appearance at lunch. I just know you all were wondering what happened to the other half. I had cooked up a couple eggs this morning, so I made some egg salad. It’s funny how I keep saying I love egg salad so much and yet I don’t eat it all that often.

Now on to the blooms! I am so pleased that my garden looks so good at this time of year. There are still a lot of blooms and some of my plants are sending up new shoots.

There was another stray bloom on the clematis:

The sedum keeps getting darker and darker.

I had to get a picture of my pale hand in there so you can see how dark it is.

My garden also has a sense of humor. One of the irises I planted appears to have grown a middle finger  :

White snapdragons are blooming again.

The amazing knockout rose:

And my fall flag is officially up! Guess I should have ironed it  😳

Time to celebrate fall with a latte! John made up special lattes today. This was made using the Godiva Pumpkin Spice coffee I received from the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program.  I love getting free stuff, especially coffee!

Good coffee, although really strongly flavored. We have to cut it with a little regular coffee when brewing straight up.  John used it full strength in the espresso machine and then topped the steamed milk with a little homemade dulce de leche and cinnamon.

Fall in a cup. Especially paired with chocolate 😀

It’s been a hard work day to stay concentrated. Friday afternoon and all that.  Plus there was a lot of kitty love going on:

I had the camera up at my chin. She is kneading on my arm here and has her “stoner” look as I call it. It’s nice to be loved.

I was glad for dinner time to finally roll around.  Even though it was a staple dinner.

Although this pear was the most apple-y pear I have ever eaten. It was somewhat round, too. If it didn’t have the pear texture, I would have thought it was an apple!

Lot of rain in store this weekend. Hoping to get the bikes out on Sunday, but there is plenty of stuff to do around here. Lots of festivals and shows.

Have a great weekend!

Bagels and busy

Busy!  I was thinking it wouldn’t be so bad today, but you just never know.  I was up for an early ride and of course, being Wednesday and all, I had to stop for breakfast!

This was a banana nut bagel.  Num!  Had a nice chat with the cafe owner this morning.  I don’t mind eating out alone.

Then I figured I would get an early start on my day.  Good thing I did, because work and the business were  both busy this morning! 😯   John owes me big time.  At least I managed a 14.5 mile ride today.

I took a quick break for lunch.  Nothing exciting on the food front today.

I put items up high while John is gone.  I do tend to want to snack a lot when I get busy and stressed, so I moved the cereal and cashews up high.  It’s too easy for me to nibble my way through the day. I also pushed the chocolate chips (John’s favorite snack) to the back of the fridge so they are out of my line of sight.  They would be up high, but it is hot, so they are in the fridge now.  I have given myself permission to snack on extra fruit today if I really want to eat.

Speaking of snacks, I made up an interesting drink today.  Using some coffee from Godiva as part of the Foodbuzz tastemakers program.  This was the chocolate truffle flavored coffee:

  • 8 oz of unsweetened almond milk
  • 4 ounces of cold chocolate truffle coffee
  • 15 grams of peanut flour
  • sweetener to taste (I used a little honey)
  • 4 large ice cubes.

Blended in my new bullet blender and I got a chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie!  I think you could just use PB2 in place of the peanut flour and not use a sweetener at all.

Slushy and good! And 9 grams of protein.  Yay!

One thing about being really busy – the day goes by super fast.  I was ready for dinner for sure!  I nibbled on a coconut flour cookie (will post recipe tomorrow) and assembled a quick salad.

Then it was back for more work.  I am done with my job for the day, so I am nibbling on some blueberries from this giant bowl:

After I hit publish, I need to go out and pack orders to ship out tomorrow.  I hope John gets me a nice present (hint, hint) for doing this

I have not opened my Google reader since last night. I apologize for not getting to any blogs today.  I hope to catch up by tomorrow night or Friday.

Question: Do you eat out alone?

Everything’s bigger in… NY??

Woke up way too early this morning.  My gym doesn’t open until 8, and I was up at 6:30.  I had a snack and thought “It’s supposed to be 40 degrees today, I can run outside!”  Well, yes 40 degrees, but not at 7 am!  I did a 2-mile loop and came back to the house.  It was cold and the sidewalks were really sloppy, so I had to run in the shoulder (hope Mom doesn’t read that 😕  ).  Anyway, I decided to just wait and finish up at the gym.  Ran 4 miles on the treadmill for a good 6 mile run total.  Saturday workouts always feel like a Friday, if that makes any sense, in that it’s the last workout of the week for me, so I am ready for a day off tomorrow!  I am very pleased about my mileage this week.  I did a total of 20 miles!  That is a 10% increase from last week.  I will keep it the same for next week, as it is important not to increase too much each week.

With such a spaced out workout, I was ready for brekkie!  Pumpkin multigrain topped with craisins and a bit of pecan butter.

Yay!  It was good.  I was very sad when this bowl was gone (how sad is that   ).  I finally got caught up in my google reader and with emails and such.  I swear that’s a full-time job in itself, know what I mean??

I was trying to use up some fridge stuff for lunch, so I made an interesting meal.  I mixed together chocolate protein powder (don’t forget to read my post from earlier!) and greek yogurt, and spread it on a toasted Josef’s pita with the last sprinkle of mini chips.

This was  good, although the pita was so crispy I had to use a fork to eat it because it kept breaking apart.

After lunch, it was down to meet my sister at BJ’s Wholesale.  My trial membership expires in a couple weeks, so we wanted to stock up on a few staples.  Afterwards, we popped across to the mall and stopped at a coffee shop that had the perfect name!

It was cute.  The owner obviously does artwork and jewelry, since this was for sale everywhere.

I had a latte and half a cookie.

Me and sister (who sprained her knee – ouch!).

One thing about BJ’s, either everything is in case form or giant form.  Check out these huge bags:

That chocolate chip bag is 72 ounces!  Should last a good long time.  John and I eat a lot of nuts and make nut butters.  BJs has great prices on almonds and pecans.  Almonds were $3.99 a pound!

Football time!  That means we’re in for the night.  I had a dinner salad and cleaned out the rest of the spring mix bag.  Check out this giant bowl of lettuce for 30 calories!

Guess that’s the good thing about salads.

Off to watch more of the games.  There is chocolate in the house…….

Want a chance to win a VitaMix mixer?  I know I do!  Check out Katie’s giveaway here!

And don’t forget to enter the Lose The Diet Book giveaway!  Ends Sunday.

NROLW and more camera woes.

In an effort to be extra green this week, I decided that I was going to bike to the gym no matter what this morning.  I didn’t even check the weather to see the temperature, I just bundled up and went.  I knew it was above freezing because there was no frost on the car 😀

I have 1 week left of New Rules of Lifting!

  • Barbell squat:  2 sets of 8 at 85 pounds
  • Dumbbell squats with heels lifted:  4 sets of 15 at 20 pounds
  • Overhead shoulder press:  4 sets of 20 with 12 pound weights
  • Step ups:  4 sets of 15 with 25 pound dumbbells
  • Underhand grip lat pulldown:  4 sets of 15 at 60 pounds

Man oh man.  I am not liking this part very much.  I love lifting, but this is pretty intense.  I tend to take a little more than 30 seconds between sets and that is what makes this so rough.

Walked on the treadmill for a bit and then biked home.  The sun was bright and shiny, so the ride wasn’t bad at all.  I cannot believe I am still getting on my bike in mid November LOL!  Biking makes me so happy.

If you read my post earlier, you know I had steel cut oats for brekkie.  Num, num.

I will show you a pic of my cafe au lait that accompanied it – even though the Broncos do *not* deserve to be featured on my blog right now…..

coffee1116

Annoying day at work today.  Tough dictators makes for slowness and frustration.  Ah well, not every day is quick and easy, right?

Took a lunch break for another waffle sandwich!  I am so into sweet and savory right now.

lunch1116

This sandwich was roasted turkey breast, laughing cow cheese, and apple butter!  And yes, to answer a question, I do toast the waffles.

So, my new camera is acting up.  Okay, my refurbished camera is acting up.  You can see what is happening on this post.  That pinkish hue gets on a lot of my photos and the LED screen gets all funked up.  It doesn’t happen all the time, but too many times to just deal with it.  It’s under warranty, so I was on the phone with Olympus to get it straightened away to send to them.  Of course, they won’t tell me if the repair is under warranty until they see the camera, but come on!

I am so addicted to taking pictures that I am panicking about not having this camera again.  Although my mom is going to let me borrow her new camera.

Snack with my latte:

snack1116

So yesterday evening was not a good eating time for me.  You know how I blogged about wanting to eat yesterday?  Well I did.  I managed to have some toast with apple butter, some dark chocolate chips and pretzels and a little leftover bread pudding during the course of the football game last night.  And I did not feel full!  What the heck is up with that?   How could I possibly not be full?  Bah!  So, today is really one of those days where I leaned out the calories to make up for that.

No broccoli for dinner tonight!  Heehee.  I did a basic sauteed chicken breast and roasted brussel sprouts, plus some applesauce.

din1116

A-1 sauce for dippin’.  I am in a roasted, sauteed vegetable rut.  Like you all couldn’t see that for yourselves!  Although, I like my ruts.  Guess that’s why I get in them!

Evening snack for MNF:

larabar1116

This is pretty good.  Nice coffee flavor, although I don’t drink sweetened coffee, so it was a little weird to have a sweet coffee flavor in my mouth.  I like the gingerbread larabar better.  What I really need to do is make more of my own.

Question:  Are you in any kind of rut now?

NROLW and Bumble coffee

Nice and cool this morning – so refreshing!  I was so hungry when I woke up today.  Had the very last piece of Ezekiel bread with the last of the apricot jam and PB for my snack.  Tasty stuff.

toast2

Here are some more stealth shots of my new gym.

gym1

I’m in in the last couple workouts from Stage 4 of NROLW.

Today was B:

  • Deadlifts: 1 x 8 55 pounds, 1 x 8  65 pounds, 1 x 8 75 pounds
  • Bulgarian split squats:  3 x 8  35# plate
  • Underhand grip lat pulldown:  1 x 8 60#, 2 x 8 at 70#
  • Reverse lunge with forward reach:  3 x 8  10# dumbbells (yay!)
  • Prone cuban snatch:  3 x 8  10# dumbbells (super yay!)
  • Crunches, reverse crunches, lateral raise
  • Back extension machine (instead of prone cobra) 3 x 8  at 90#

I decided to do the back extension rather than the cobra because I am tired of that one.  😀  I’m feeling strong and it feels so good!

Texted John (I can’t believe I have actually sent some texts recently!) to meet me and bike onward to breakfast!  Speed on the way there, just under 12mph.

Someone there wanted my coffee.  I love this guy – one of my favorite Christmas specials 😀

bumble

And the brekkie!

bagel9

Biked home.  Speed on the way home hit 13.5 mph.  Think it was the bagel and the carb boost?  Indeed.

Light on work this morning, which is a good thing because I was meeting someone at noon.  Noon is lunchtime for me, normally – so it was an ‘on-the-go’ lunch.  Been a while since I have had one of these!

zone

Some cereal snackage when I got back (oooooppppssss…..).

cereals

More delicious coffee after trying to get into a work rhythm.  If I didn’t actually see blood come out when I do donations, I would assume that my veins are full of coffee.

latte4

John grilled steak for dinner – yum!  Haven’t had steak in forever.  I so love our local smokehouse.

dinner17

Usually I go and get a bunch of chicken (I’m cheap).  John went and came home with a $8 per pound steak!  One piece of meat that is really worth paying good money for is steak.  Never buy cheap steak.  Other cuts, yes – but not steak.  So good.

Dessert:

chips

So, I am feeling a little aimless without having a goal since I am not doing the half marathon, although finishing NROLW is a good goal!  I’m doing a couple 5Ks, but it’s not quite the same.  I saw a duathlon in the paper in October this morning, and I just  might go ahead and do that.  It’s 2.2 mile run/16 mile bike ride/2.2 mile run.  I think that might be a good way to send out the active season.  I had an odd desire to to a brick the other day (what was I thinking??), so maybe I should do it.

Or really, what I should do is buckle down and take off the last 10 pounds instead of dinking around.

MST3K from Netflix tonight!

Question: What are your lunches (or any meal) on the go?
