A little shakin’ going on!

It’s only Tuesday?  Why does it feel like Wednesday or Thursday?  Today started week 4 of C25K.  This workout was:  5 minute warm up walk, then 3 minutes of running followed by 90 seconds of brisk walking.  Then 5 minutes of running followed by 2.5 minutes of brisk walking.  Repeat that and then cool down.  I did pretty well.  It was a gorgeous morning.  Low 50s, so perfect weather for running.  I was saying to John how running and walking seem so darn slow.  I am used to scenery going by fast with biking. I also smile more when I am biking.  Just out of sheer enjoyment.

My leg seems okay so far, although I did notice some increased numbness in my knee.  It won’t be until the longer periods of running intervals happen for me to really see what is going to happen, I think, but so far okay.

I came back for breakfast and cooked up a banana bread pudding.  Yum.

Since it was a cold morning, Pixie has become the heat-seeking lap missile again.

She says “Work, shmerk”

Had a good lunch today.  I made up some peanut flour with a bit of honey and cinnamon and added just enough water to make it thick.

It was kind of like frosting on a coconut flour biscuit.  I am totally overdosing on coconut everything.  I think I need an intervention.

Afternoon excitement.  We felt the VA quake way up here in upstate NY!  I thought I felt something funny, and definitely started feeling some rocking.  It went on for quite a while, too.  That is the second earthquake in about a year.  We just don’t get too many in this area (that we feel at any rate).  It makes us realize how poorly our 100+ year old house would do in a big quake…

Something that actually wakes Ms. Pixie up, too.

Something that wakes me up?

Latte time!  Actually, this was decaf, but it’s all good.

Scary news about this hurricane.  I hope all of you fellow East Coasters get prepared.  We might actually have to do some kind of preparations if it takes a northerly path.  Not sure exactly what we should do other than get food, store water, store stuff that can get blown around and be glad we don’t live in a flood-prone zone.

Dinner time – Chicken thigh! (Know why? Chicken thigh! Anyone remember that??)

I was popping blueberries while cooking, too.  I kept starting to grab the tortilla chips off of John’s plate while we were getting dinner ready out of old habit.  So, I started eating blueberries instead.

John and I went for a walk after dinner and headed up to the new cafe.  However, they have new hours now and close at 6 pm.  No more evening coffee.  Boooo.  So, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts.  Full of all that grainy goodness.

They just made some fresh decaf, so that is what we both had, although John also had a donut!

Ended up doing 5 miles today between the morning and evening activity.  Surprising how it adds up.  I am now eating a couple squares of dark chocolate and thinking about a morning bike ride

C25K Week 9

Week 9 – week freaking 9!!!!!!! That’s 30 minutes of jogging. Okay, I can’t do a 5K in 30 minutes yet, but I can do 2 miles! That is an improvement on my time of a 17 minute mile.
Funny how I see the progression of adding distance. I remember being nervous about jogging 1/2 mile. Now today, I was futzing around with my HRM (never did get it recording right), and had done 1/2 a mile without even noticing it! 1 mile goes pretty quick. With the new pace I set, I think I could do 3K at that speed, but will just work up to it. My goal for the July 26th 5K is to finish in 45 minutes. That was my original goal – to at least jog the whole thing.

I want that 100 pound mark so bad. Only 4 pounds away!

Today’s stats:

Calorie goal: 1,350 • Consumed: 1,352 • Burned: 375
Net calories: 977

C/P/F ratio: 45/27/28 Yay me!!!

5K !!!

This weekend was a virtual 5K at 3FC. Do the 5K anyway you like over the course of the holiday weekend.

I decided to see how far I could get, knowing that I did 2 miles earlier this week. Well – I jogged the whole 5K! I actually did 3 1/4 miles just to make sure (the HS track could be whonky, who knows?).

I am so proud of myself! From weighing 250 pounds to 155 and able to jog a 5K. Took 4 years, but I am here!

Today’s Stats
Calorie goal: 1,500 • Consumed: 1,508 • Burned: 451
Net calories: 1,057

Jogged for 25 minutes!

Today was C25K Week 6 Day 3. That was one long 25 minute jog. I took it slow and did about 1.5 miles. I could conceivably finish a 5K in under an hour right now 🙂

After the first 1/4 mile, it felt much better. That first start of the jogs just doesn’t feel that great. Sure felt good to be done, though! I will start Week 7 on Thursday or Friday.

Tomorrow is weigh in day. I have no idea what to expect. I did go out to dinner last night, and shared some carrot cake. I also did some hard work installing new tile floor and worked on the laminate counter tops at my parent’s house, and my muscles are very sore from that. Probably have some water retention there.

C25K Week 6

Did Day one of Week 6 of Couch to 5K. The end of Week 5 had a long 20 minute jog. Today was split into 3 jogs. 5 minute, 8 minute and 5 minute. I pushed on the last 5 minutes, just to do it. Got much further around than the first 5.

I’m going down to my parent’s house on Sunday, so this will disrupt the run schedule a wee bit. Need to tinker with it. Probably will do day 2 on Sunday, and Day 3 next Tuesday.

And, I stayed on track today, despite wanting to eat 🙂

Thinking of switching over to a maintenance package from NS. I really have most of the meals swapped into my own version of foods. Plus I am down to just 3 days per week with NS foods. My next shipment is due at the beginning of June.

Weigh in day!

Yippee!! I lost 1.6 pounds this week, which puts me in the 150s!! Yay!!! I think the jogging and biking was a good exercise change up to keep the pounds coming off. Wish I could lose this much every week!

I was supposed to do C25K Week 3 Day 3 today, I use the little podcasts to tell me when to start and stop jogging. Well, halfway through the warmup – the batteries died on my MP3 player (note to self – always check the batteries before leaving home).

So, since I was already at the track, I decided to alternate walk one time around and jog one time around. I did 4 laps walking and 5 jogging. So 2.25 miles. I decided to see how far I could go around on the last jog – and did 2 laps around the track. I can jog for 1/2 a mile at a time! I am so excited!

Couch to 5K Week 3

This week alternates a 90 second jog/90 second walk and a 3 minute jog/3 minute walk.

I went to the high school down the street (since I was going out in the evening) and used the outdoor track. On the last go around I decided to time how long it took me to do one lap. It was a little over 4.5 minutes – so looking at a 16 minute mile currently. I can live with that for now! If I could actually jog the whole thing LOL!

Weigh in day!

Well – lost 0.4 pounds today. I am exactly 160, didn’t dip into the 150s. If I can’t get there next week…… LOL!
Did a lot of exercise today. Walked to Dunkin Donuts as per usual Wed brekkie. However, they were closed for renovations! So went back home and drove to a different one.

I then did my C25K week 2 Day 3 workout. Phew. My legs were really tired from yesterday’s hills on the bike.

Then did upper body bowflex workout.

DH and I *then* went for a bike ride tonight. Of course – there is an ice cream shop on the bike path, so we stopped there. I had a kiddie size scoop of Pumpkin ice cream and it was delicious! It seemed a big scoop for kiddie size. John got the small size and that was 2 scoops! No wonder America is fat. Anyway, about a 1/2 hour ride or so. I think it was around 6-7 miles. I need to be careful not to over do exercise in an effort to lose more quickly. Bad trap to set for myself.

C25K Week 2

Did Day 2, Week 2 of C25K today.
That is jogging for 90 seconds alternated with 2 minutes of walking. I did 2.25 miles with that today. Need to map out a 3.1 mile walk so I can know the distance I need to cover.

For the last 90 second jog – I did a little more just to see what would happen. It was okay! I did about an extra 30 seconds. Next week starts the 3 minute jog intervals.
