Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yes, it is a Hallmark Holiday, but fun nonetheless! John and I normally do not do anything special for Valentine’s, but since this year is a milestone year for us (15 years in the fall), we decided to go out to dinner.

I was ready to get my sweat on this morning at the gym.  I decided on a short run today of 3 miles.  The time went by very quickly, too, which is always nice.  I have decided that I really can take or leave running.  If I could not bike again, I would be devastated, but running, not so much.

I was thinking about breakfast while I was running.  Peanut flour waffles with blueberries and coconut butter!

Piled high in a stack for a nice photo.  Of course, this stack was a little hard to eat, but I managed…

Gorgeous day here – it hit 50 degrees!  Still will be weeks before we see the ground though.  And the 50 was only for today.  Back into the 20s tomorrow.

Lunch time was an old favorite – egg salad!

I am now jokingly referring to my reduced carb days as my ‘fat’ days as I eat a lot more fat on these days.  And you know, I’m likin’ it!  A lot.

I have switched my milk over to 2%.  We used to drink 1%, but really the calorie difference is pretty negligible at 20 and only a couple more grams of fat – yet more filling.

Latte topped with this new Saigon cinnamon I got.  Instead of the usual 2.5% essential oil that cinnamon has, this stuff has 5%.  It is very intense – almost like a cinnamon redhot and it kind of burned my lips the first time I used it on a pear because I put on the normal amount that I usually do.  I learned.

Dinner time with my true love tonight!

We went out to Raul’s, which is Mexican a little upscale.  What is nice is that they don’t give you an endless bowl of chips and salsa.  Thank you!

I had a bowl of chicken lime soup to start:

And then a beef burrito with cheese, caramelized onion, and tomato.

Very tasty.  And the company was nice.  We  wanted coffee, but wanted to digest a bit first.  So, that meant walking around downtown and a stop at the romantic library!

I have an embarrassing amount of books out right now.  I got 2 more, which brings my total to 14.  I have finished a good chunk of those already, I just haven’t returned them yet.

Then it was time for coffee.

Isn’t my date handsome?  15 years and I still like spending time with him.

Hope all of you had a wonderful day! I’ll have the Healthy Heart Big Post done on Tuesday.  I am compiling the pics and links into a big post.  Then I will draw the winners!

Happy Valentine’s Day an Dr. Oz promo

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I had to work today, and John and I didn’t have anything special planned except we told each other 3 things we loved about each other this morning 😳

Off to bagels for breakfast, though!  Haven’t been out for a Sunday bagel in a few weeks.

Trail mix, with some coffee (and grounds….)

Starting to feel somewhat more normal, although I am so behind in my personal stuff like emails and house cleaning.  I still have laundry hanging up that I did from the return from our cruise last Sunday!  Good thing John has been doing some cleaning or the house would be a total wreck.

Check out the promo for Tuesday’s Dr. Oz show!  If you look at this still, I am at end of the 2nd row on the left holding the 105 pound paddle (mouth open).  That’s probably all you will see of me on the show LOL!

Quick lunch break:

Tuna salad and some soy crisps. I used to eat these all the time, but tried decreasing soy in my diet. Now that I am not eating so many bars and use whey protein, I decided to have some of these chips.  I love how many you get in a serving!

Lots and lots of work today. That’s a good thing. We made chocolate lattes for our Valentine snack 😀

Dinner turned out yummier than I was thinking. Don’t you love it when that happens? I sauteed some finely cut brussel sprouts (with new chef’s knife – super sharp!) and then sauteed a bit of pork with BBQ sauce.

Can you tell I am on a BBQ kick lately? LOL Good stuff.

Tomorrow I’ll post some more thoughts on seeing all of the Dr. Oz people. I am going to sit down with a snack and some tea tonight with John and try to muster up some energy to clean a little bit. We are hosting a Mardi Gras dinner on Tuesday!

Happy Vday to all, and spend it with someone special, even if it is yourself (cause you are all special).

Happy Valentine's Day!

It’s chocolate day LOL! Or at least it seems like it. DH and I don’t exchange Vday gifts normally, so chocolate isn’t an issue for me today.
We are, however, going out for dinner tonight – one of those fixed menu things. Lobster and filet mignon! Need to just watch my portion sizes – although I imagine these portions will be on the small side considering the price the meal goes for.

Just eating normally for the rest of the day, and got in my exercise (snow shoveling…. again). Will probably do some more light cardio.
