Exhausted

This week has been so incredibly busy. I am so tired, but I have been making sure that I get in my exercise every day. No excuses. So, 12 hours later and I’m done with my jog after working all day.

I didn’t do the bowflex, just too tired, so will bump those out by a day. I snuck in the jog tonight and got in 3 miles and made my way home. The skies were really dark while I was running. I kept saying “One more lap and you can go if it rains”. But, I did 12 laps and jogged part of the way home. 5 minutes after I got home it started pouring! Lucky me.

Doing the Silk & Satin 5K run this weekend. My first official run! I am kind of nervous, isn’t that funny?

Less than a week left in July, the scale has not been kind – a net loss of one pound so far. My goal was to do 13 three mile runs this month, and I should make that. I have done 10 so far. So hopefully I will see some loss in inches to make up for the scale.

nutrition for jogging and exercise thoughts

I was googling some information on calorie distribution for runners. Since I am running about 10 miles a week, which is a good amount – but certainly not elite LOL.
I came across this article, which says a good ratio is 50/25/25, about what I am trying to follow! That is good to know.

Funny how the jogging I have been doing has changed my outlook on exercise again. I feel more like an athlete now than ever before. Even though I strength train and do other cardio. Plus all the biking. Not totally sure if it is just the summer outdoor exercise, or just that I really am fit now!

Those people who can move, should move. I really don’t understand why people take for granted the gift of movement. There are those who have physical impairments who would just love to move the way others do.
I don’t care if you think you don’t like exercise, there has to be at least one activity you enjoy. Try different things until you find your ‘fit’. You cannot be successful at losing weight and keeping it off without some form of physical activity. I know you can get to goal without exercise, but you will be so much happier with how your body looks when you exercise. Plus it lets you eat more!!

Happy Independence Day!!

I’m in a bit of a reflective mood this morning. Independence Day marks the day the US gained its freedom (officially). Freedom from what? From tyranny and British Empire rule. The fledgling 13 states of this now huge country bravely forged the way.

We are very lucky, those of us who live in America. As much bitching as I do about the government – I am thankful to be a part of this country, and want to participate to make it the best it can be!

In thinking about freedom on a daily basis, here are some thoughts of what freedoms I am celebrating today:

– Freedom from being obese
– the freedom to ride a bike for miles and miles – and not get tired
– the freedom to shop wherever I want to now.
– the freedom to do anything in public and not fear being made fun of
– the freedom of movement without it being an effort

and the freedom I feel just being good to myself and treating my body well!

What freedoms are you celebrating?

Weigh in day!

Lost 0.4 pounds this week. Not much, but I lost such a big amount last week that I am surprised I lost at all. Not to mention this puts me in the 140s!!!!!!!

Been hitting some pretty big milestones lately.

Today I jogged 2.5 miles in 38 minutes. I think that shaves me down to a 15 minute mile.

Today I feel like eating. Don’t know why, but I have been really hungry all day. Just one of those days where I have to grind it out, like I wrote below!

Weigh in day. 100 pounds gone!!

So I stepped on the scale this morning, thinking I would see a pound or so loss. The number 150.0 was there in beautiful LCD numbers. I stared for a few seconds, got off the scale and got back on. Same thing.
Still not believing it – I moved the scale around on the floor (this never makes any difference, mind you). Get back on – the same. After 5 times, I decided it must be real LOL!
I was not expecting this. That was a 2.4 pound loss, which any of you faithful readers of my blog know is quite a large loss for me in one week’s time.

I am thrilled, and yet scared. Goal is only 15 pounds away. 15 pounds, that seems like nothing.

Fabulous weekend

Had a great weekend. We went up to Burlington VT. Took our bikes in the car and decided to stay a little outside of Burlington and bike there on Saturday.
We got there Friday night and walked around downtown, listened to some music (jazz festival weekend) and had dinner in the park.

On Saturday, we got the bikes out and biked to breakfast (bagel), and then decided to run the path along the lake before it got too hot. We biked along the lakefront up to the Winooski river bridge. The whole day we covered at least 20 miles.
After the morning ride, we rode back to downtown and walked for a lot of miles. It was probably at least 5 during the day. We did shopping, a museum, and just walking around. Had lunch at the farmers market. Wonderful samosas from a vendor. I just got 2, they were small.
Dinner was at a small cafe, and I had a turkey sandwich with cheese. It was a pretty big sandwich on crusty bread.
Got back to the inn, and just crashed. I was so tired! My legs were really rubbery at that point. Took a dip in the pool, which was really cold (polar bear club anyone??), but refreshing.

Today, we biked to breakfast, then loaded up and drove to Waterbury. Went to the Green Mountain cafe and had a cappuccino (skim, of course), then we went to the Ben & Jerry’s factory tour. That was short and nice, with a sample of ice cream at the end. We didn’t end up getting anything at the scoop shop.
Stopped for lunch in a little town on the way home. One of those places where what you order sounds healthy, but isn’t really in reality. A little greasy, but quite good.

Glad to be back home, and I have no idea what the results of this weekend will be on the scale, but I am not concerned if there is a gain. I know I was over on calories. Hope the biking will smooth things out a bit.

Weigh in is tomorrow

Not sure what to expect on the scale. Today DH was looking at me kind of funny. I asked him what he was looking at. His reply ” You just look so thin and athletic”.

I was flabbergasted! Me – athletic?? Me??? That just made my day!!

Today’s stats:
Calorie goal: 1,350 • Consumed: 1,306 • Burned: 330
Net calories: 976

C/P/F ratio: 57/25/18

Weigh in day!

Weigh in day and I lost 1 pound this week! Less than 20 pounds to get to goal! It’s going slow, but it is still going down.

Still waffling (mmmmmm…. waffles) about whether to drop or raise calories. Maybe I just shouldn’t change at all. I really don’t want to lower my calories with the amount of exercise I do, but it might move the scale faster. Then I need to remind myself that speed is not the goal.
I also wonder if I might lose faster if I feed my body a bit more. I’m just scared to do it LOL!

Today’s stats:

Calorie goal: 1,350 • Consumed: 1,375 • Burned: 210
Net calories: 1,165
C/P/F ratio: 54/22/24

Tomorrow I need to try to get my protein to at least 30%. That’s my goal.

Happy Memorial Day!

Hope you all had a great long weekend (those of you that had a long weekend). We had such gorgeous weather. It was nice to poke around outside today. Since I did heavy workouts on Sat and Sun, I was going to take it easy today.
Couldn’t quite do that LOL. So, I did my normal Monday bowflex workout. Then a relaxing game of miniature golf 🙂

I ate very well for the holiday weekend. Really well – almost better than any other weekend, really. Felt good to be in control.

Today’s stats:
Calorie goal: 1,350 • Consumed: 1,345 • Burned: 53
Net calories: 1,292
C/P/F ratio: 55/24/21
