What’s Blooming!

For real – blooms!  Warm weather and the garden popped out all over.

I haven’t planted tulips in a couple of years and mine are now on their last legs.  Here are the few that are left:

There is a lot of greenery from the tulips, but they just don’t bloom anymore. So it’s time to dig them up and plant more. I won’t put any tulips out back because the rabbits ate all the buds that I had back there. They don’t eat in the front yard – for whatever reason – so only the front beds will get tulips.

Right next to the house, the lily of the valleys are blooming. Everywhere else they aren’t flowering yet, but it’s sheltered and warmer here:

Fragrant powerhouse!

The lawn violets are blooming:

We actually needed to mow the lawn this week! It feels so good to have things green and feeling like spring is here to stay.

Forget me nots:

And some random daffodils:

I spent some time this week cleaning a ton of maple seedlings out of the garden beds. It looks like the majority of plants survived the winter, including all my rose bushes – yay!  No lupines came back, though. As much as I love them, I think I’m done trying after 3 years.

There are lots of alliums getting ready to open, so those should make an appearance next week.

Have a great weekend!

You know Lori i never heard of tulips getting tired… and you had to dig them up and replace them.. But then i am by no means the guru of tulips..lol I do remember my Grandmother had a huge full tulip bed for years and years in New Jersey and i never remember her doing that.. Maybe they just need a boost of something to get them going again? Love seeing all your flowers Lori, so pretty.. Have you ever heard of Rocket Barberry bushes… ? Lori they are so pretty.. no flowers but the leaves are incredible Spring/Summer /Fall.. just gorgeous colors.. they do have small thorns but that just means nobody eats them..lol They get tiny tiny yellow flowers in the spring..and the those big fat bumble bees love them.. couldn’t figure out what the bees liked so much about those bushes then i got close enough to see the flowers.. they take full sun.. just not sure how cold hardy they are for your area.. they handled below 10F here.. Hugs! deb

There are tons of kinds of tulips, some last longer than others, but after a while, they stop flowering and you replace the bulbs. Some types of tulips spread on their own and last for a long time, but generally the kind I get don’t do that. Funny about the barberry – I got rid of one because I couldn’t deal with the thorns LOL! They are cold hardy here.

It’s so nice to see your garden back to blooming again! Everything is looking really pretty. I’m intrigued by the lily of the valley – it looks like a tiny fairy garden plant!

About half my tulips just came up green this year as well. I need to order some and have them ready otherwise I’ll never fix that situation lol.

I’m always happy to read your posts because I learn the names of flowers. Or I remember them again!
