Monday, monday

Good eating day today. Easter was not a big holiday in our house, so no food atonement for me today LOL!

I did my full body workout with bowflex. I upped the weights on the biceps curls to 20 pounds. I think next week I will be up to 25 pounds. I figure this new weight training is going to make me maintain for a few weeks, and I really want to be okay with that. I hope I am LOL!
I also did Hard Core Fusion for the cardio workout.

Yummy pizza recipe

Trying to find a replacement for the Nutrisystem pizzas. I got at least the thin and flat bread pizzas covered with this:

Flatout Multigrain bread
Contadina Pizza Squeeze Pizza Sauce Serving size: 1/4 cup (63g)
Hannaford Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Part Skim Serving size: 1/4 cup (28g/1oz)
Hormel Pillow Pak Sliced Turkey Pepperoni Serving size: 1 serving (30.0 g)

baked at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or so.

Stats:
Calories 283 Fat 12g Carbs 25g Fiber 9g Protein 27g
It made a huge pizza!

It’s a little high in sodium, since I used a whole serving of pepperoni.

The NS flatbread or thin crust is 210 calories, plus 35 calories for 1/2 a serving of pepperoni. So a total of 245.

Good saturday

Still doesn’t quite feel like Spring outside. Mid 30s and sunny, but windy and brisk. Took a short walk outside. I really want to get my bike out!!

Feeling a little sore from my bowflex, particularly in the tricep and hip area. I added a new hip abductor exercise and boy howdy, I feel it today!!

Happy Friday!

Yay – the weekend! We actually started it a bit early. Forwarded the business phone to the cell and went out to a coffee shop where I had a small skim latte.
We then hit the mall, and got a bunch of Zone bars on sale at Target. $1 a bar! That’s at least 20 cents cheaper than the grocery store.

After that it was dinner time, so we decided to stop at a pizza place. I have been craving a calzone for a while, and wanted to split one with DH, since they are big. So, we each got a side salad and split the calzone. Back in the old days, I would have eaten the whole calzone in one sitting. It was a nice meal, not too filling and seemed very decadent. I wouldn’t want to do this very often, as it was more rich than I am used to.

Did my second full body bowflex workout. Wednesday was the test day to see how tired I got during the reps, and I adjusted the weights upward this time to reach fatigue. I do 2 sets of 10 reps each, with a very slow count. My muscles were shaky for a while after doing that.

Then I got the Firm Boot Camp dvd from Netflix today. Did that as well, it didn’t seem as tough as the Hard Core Fusion, but I was doing more of the beginner moves. I will keep this one for a while.

Weigh in is tomorrow

I took a sneak peek at the scale today, and looks like there will be little to no loss tomorrow. But, again – no telling until the morning! It’s not about the scale anymore.

I really feel like I have a good handle on how to eat for life. This isn’t about point counting, or eating prepackaged food, or how much weight loss how fast. It is about feeding my body the fuel it needs to live a long and healthy life. Understanding the nutritional value of food and exercise, and know that as long as I am doing those things right, the scale number is secondary.

Lost 1.8 pounds this week. WooHoo!! That puts me just over 85 pounds down now! Still focused and still on track.

Here is what I ate today – it was a Nutrisystem day, except for the usual Wednesday bagel.

Super Foods

I have been reading the SuperFoodsRX books recently. Trying to formulate an eating plan that I can do for the rest of my life. I am interested in these books because I found out I already eat a lot of the super foods anyway (even on those days I eat Nutrisystem foods).
The super foods include:
blueberries
broccoli
oats
yogurt
salmon
green tea
walnuts
soy
spinach
tomatoes
pumpkin
dark chocolate
apples
pomegranates

And more in there, I would have to look up the other few. I like that the diet plan does not contain recipes made with sugar substitute, since I can’t tolerate that stuff.

Anyway, it’s interesting stuff!
Family weekend coming up. Will be a bit of a challenge staying on plan 🙂

Feelin' good

Great day today. Not struggling too much with food. I have the momentum still to stay pretty true to plan.

Today and tomorrow will be Nutrisystem days. Normally I do every other day, but my family will be in town on Saturday and I know we are getting together for dinner – and might be out for lunch. Saturday would have been an NS day, but I will swap Fri and Saturday. A little nervous about the food that day, but I think I will be okay.

Weigh in day!

Lost 1.2 pounds! Yay!!! Slow and steady wins the race. That’s 83.6 pounds total, for those keeping track.

Wednesday is a designated bagel day, we went to Dunkin Donuts and I wanted to see if they had their new multigrain bagel available. They did and I had one! They are really big, I have to say. 410 calories worth!! And that doesn’t count the cream cheese. Only 10 grams of fat and I think there is 9 grams of fiber?
Half a bagel would certainly be a fine serving, although asking me to just eat half a bagel is like asking someone to give up their car. Not gonna happen. That’s okay, though – calorie counting today and I am at 1350 out of 1500 so I can still have a small evening snack if I need it.

I really can’t wait until the weather clears up so that I can get my bike out. We had a lot of rain last night through today, and coupled with several feet of snow – there is nowhere for the water to go! Ugh. At least it wasn’t more snow, though!!

The snow, the snow

You know, I do like snow – I really do. However…. this has just been too much. Thank you global warming.
We got another 8 inches Friday night. The snow blower conked out halfway through doing the driveway, so we had to finish that by hand. Then do the driveway at my flip house. There isn’t anywhere to put the snow!
Here is a picture of the driveway, the side piles are 3 – 4 feet high.

Well, it’s good exercise anyway. Even more so when you have to lift the snow higher to get it on top of those piles!

Pretty good day eating yesterday. It was my own food day, had a treat at Starbucks with my skim latte. They have mini vanilla bean scones. Just perfect for a 3 bite dessert. 130 calories, though – so you could easily eat several if you aren’t careful. Calories for the day came in under 1500.
